WITH DEEP APPRECIATIONIn this holy season of Lent, as bishops and the cabinets across The United Methodist Church are busy making pastoral appointments in order to provide leadership for thousands of congregations in the coming conference year, I feel blessed to serve Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church as your senior pastor. I cannot imagine a

better place to live out Christ’s call to love God, love neighbor, and change the world. I believe I can speak for our other pastors, as well as our entire staff, when I say Pulaski Heights is truly the body of Christ for our community and the world, and we are honored to play a small part in it.

As we continue through this sacred season, I encourage you to be faithful to the vows you made to Christ when you joined PHUMC so that our witness might continue to flourish and grow:

1. Prayers. Pray daily that our faith community will continue to transform lives and communities for Jesus Christ. This is our most important ministry as disciples of Christ.

2. Presence. Our average weekly worship attendance soared to a record high of almost 1100 this past year. Your presence completes the body of Christ and bonds us together in a powerful and tangible way.

3. Gifts. Be generous with your financial gifts. Jesus talked more about “money” than “prayer”. Consider giving a tithe (10 percent) of your income to the budget during Lent. Who knows? It may become habit-forming!

4. Service. Find a place of service in the church – teach, sing, serve as a Stephen Minister, greeter, join a Mission team – live out your faith!

5. Witness. Wherever you go, you are a visible witness for Jesus Christ. Be the best “you” you can possibly be, and do it in the name of the One who loves you with a never-ending love.

Once again, thank you. I’m already looking forward to a new year of ministry and service in this wonderful place!
