The department of Diagnosis & Imaging offers the most advanced state-of-the-art

technology backed by a team of experienced radiologists and technologists.

The department has collaboration with Radiologists from Northwestern University

of Chicago. High quality imaging, interpreted by experts offers the best chances of

precise diagnosis and treatment planning.

The department is well equipped with all the imaging modalities such as:

• Conventional Radiology: X-Ray units with high frequency generator from

Siemens equipped with the state-of-art image intensifier and fluoroscopy with

Fuji CR reader provide high quality X-Ray pictures. The special procedures like

Barium studies, ERCPs and IVPs as well as all-image guided interventions are

carried out under the guidance of experts. For in-bed sick patients, the department

has mobile X-Ray units with high frequency generator.

• Four ultrasound systems including the latest and most advanced real high end

4D systems from GE - Voluson E8 and a mobile unit for sick immobile patients is

also available round-the-clock.

• For early diagnosis of osteoporosis and carcinoma breast facilities, DEXA bone

densitometer and Mammography services are available.

• CT (Computed Tomography)*: Pushpanjali Crosslay Hospital has the first 64 slice

CT - Brilliance 64 from Philips in East Delhi and this part of NCR. The scanner is

capable of producing detailed pictures of any organ in just a few seconds and

demonstrates any pathology with exquisite detail in 3-dimensional views. The

scanner, in addition to routine scanning, is able to evaluate a beating heart

non-invasively. All major vessel of the body is similarly viewed in seconds in the

3D plane. The scanner is a real boon fo cancer patients as it has a dedicated

oncology package for evaluation of any malignancy. A unique feature of this

scanner is 4D respiratory gating, which helps in precise radiotherapy treatment

of cancer patients. CT guided FNACs / Biopsy drainage procedures and virtual

endoscopies are the other strong points of the unit.

• By the end of 2009 we plan to install MRI and PET-CT.

Emergency& TraumaCentre

The Emergency team is trained to provide comprehensive emergency medical services to

patients suffering from traumatic injuries requiring complex and multi-disciplinary treatment,

including surgery to give the victim the best possible chance for survival and recovery.

The department consists of a dedicated triage for immediate resuscitative procedures

attached to the 12-bed observational area where patients are continuously monitored by

medical and nursing staff using state-of-the-art monitoring equipment. To make the

emergency services comprehensive, an operation theatre and a procedure room are a

part of the Emergency block. The Blood Bank and Radiology department are proximally

located to reduce movement time.

An ambulance equipped with the latest medical equipment and life saving drugs is also

available at all times. It is also equipped to transport sick neonates to the Neonatal Intensive

Care Unit. A dedicated cardiac ambulance is available for cardiac cases.

GalaxyCancerInstitute

The facility is one of the best in the country and offers treatment at par with those

available anywhere in the world.

The best available radiotherapy equipment has been installed at Galaxy Cancer

Institute. Two linear accelerators, both capable of high end radiation delivery are

being installed. This machine is capable of delivering “Image Guided and

Radiotherapy (IGRT)” to the site of cancer by instantly confirming the location of

the disease. This is achieved by doing a CT scan (cone beam CT scan) on the

linear accelerator.

Another unique facility is “respiratory gating”, which spares normal tissue while

directing the therapy to the cancerous region accurately. This is of specific benefit

in cases of cancer of lung, breast and liver.

In addition, a 30-channel brachytherapy machine from Nucletron Medical Systems

of Netherlands has been installed, which permits more complex treatments and

larger tumor areas to be treated. The system has 3-D planning capacity that enhances

cure rates and minimizes side effects. Brachytherapy machines available in northern

India have 18-channels only.

The Laboratory is fully computerized and equipped with hi-tech equipment. Samples

collected by our skilled and highly professional technicians reach the Laboratory

through Pneumatic tubes. Thereafter, the samples are appropriately directed to the

specific sections viz. Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Hematology or

Histopathology. The received samples are processed under stringent quality control

environment and the test results are generated within 24 hours.

The Biochemistry department is capable of handling 400 tests per hour and utilizes

the latest dry chemistry technology. High end tests like tumor markers, TORCH,

hormone assays, screening tests for various diseases like thalessemia and drug

assays are also carried out. Results are available instantly for emergency tests for

cardiac patients like CPK, CPK-MB, Troponin, and NT-proBNP.

Neurology

The department is equipped with facilities like Electro Encephalogram (EEG), Nerve

Conduction Velocity (NCV), Electromyography (EMG), Evoked Potential and

Polysmnography used under the guidance of a team of highly qualified doctors.

EEG

EEG is the most important laboratory test in the evaluation of patients with epilepsy

and brain related problems. The test lasts for approximately one hour and is a

painless procedure, during which time the brain’s electrical activity is detected by

electrodes pasted on the scalp.

NCV

This procedure is done to study nerve conduction by passing a brief electric stimulus

to one portion of a nerve and the resulting response is evaluated by the physician to

detect pathology.

EMG

The EMG evaluates electric activity in muscles by inserting a fine needle electrode

in any suspected problem area. The emergent response patterns are studied by the

specialist. The needles used are disposable.

Evoked Potential

The neural responses to varying stimuli such as auditory clicks, visual patterns

such as a checkerboard, or small electric stimuli are studied to detect abnormalities.

We are in the process of obtaining approval for the Blood Bank that is strategically

located near the Emergency Department on the ground floor to minimize the time

taken for blood to reach the patient, especially in times of Emergency. All attempts

have been made to ensure the best quality and purity of blood received at all levels.

The Blood Bank is well equipped to provide services like blood collection, testing

for blood transfusion, cross matching and issue of whole blood and various

components like packed cells, saline washed packed cells, fresh frozen plasma,

platelet concentrate and cryoprecipitate.

Urology

The department of Urology provides contemporary medical and surgical care in all

aspects of adult and pediatric urology. The department also provides screening,

staging and treatment of all uro-genital tumors including kidney, ureter, bladder and
