Pyramid (a game for 1-2 players) What you need: Deck of cards (face cards removed) *ACE = 1 Why play? It’s a great game for practicing the VERY USEFUL strategy of making tens when adding numbers AND it’s FUN! To start… Arrange cards into a pyramid starting from one card in the top row all the way to six cards in the bottom row. Each row MUST slightly overlap the previous row so that the only row completely uncovered is the bottom row. Then, place remaining cards in a pile face down to the side. This will be your HELP pile. To play… Start removing cards from the pyramid by ‘making ten’ with pairs, or removing a ten card. NOTE: you can only remove cards that are completely uncovered, so, to start, you can only use the bottom row. When you get stuck and can no longer make ten with a card from the pyramid, you can take from your draw pile. Keep drawing cards from this pile until you are able to make ten with another card in your pyramid. Once the draw pile has been exhausted, you can turn it over to use again. To win… When you can no longer make ten with any cards in your pyramid or the help of your draw pile, you’re done! Add up the value of all the remaining cards in your pyramid. This is your score. If playing in partners, the lower score wins.

Why play?
