Special effects can be affordable for quaint, private affairs. For example, we helped a groom delight his bride by shoot-ing rose petals from a cannon that showered them as they left the chapel, creating an experience his guests won’t forget.

In 1889, Constantino Vitale started his fireworks company in Pietramelara,Italy. In 1920 he immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island making a home for his family and business in New Castle, Pennsylvania — a small town between Pittsburgh and Cleveland that would become known as “The Fireworks Capital of America.”

At the turn of the century, the fireworks company was one of the largest in the country. By 1940, it was headed by Constantino’s son, Rocco Vitale Sr., who led the expansion of the facilities in New Castle which were also briefly used to manufacture explosives for the U.S. Navy during World War II. Many of these buildings still stand today, across the street from the 20,000 square foot corpo-rate headquarters.

Five different generations of the Vitale family have grown Constantino’s compa-ny by training new staff in the old family ways, selecting the best products from global suppliers, and delighting more and more audiences every year. In the 1990s, the company took on the name “Pyrotecnico” to reflect the company’s expanding variety of products and technical proficiency.

Now, in the 21st century, the Pyrotecnico extended family continues traditions across the country and abroad, as they create exciting celebrations for the next 100 years. Pyrotecnico’s current CEO, Stephen Vitale, comments: “While we’ve become one of the premier fireworks companies in the world, we cannot lose sight of what has gotten us here: a commitment to innovation that impacts audiences visually and emotionally, attention to detail, listening to clients and a serious regard for safety. We take pride in these skills and use them to provide the best show possible for each event.”
