Over 80% of Public Works vehicle fleet exceeds the 6- 10 year age and a majority of the fleet has well over 100,000 miles. ADVANTAGES: Purchase of the new vehicles ensure our ability to safely and adequately carry out public works duties. Reduction of time loss due to vehicles out of service as well as reduction of maintenance costs. DISADVANTAGES: Other than initial purchase cost, no disadvantages. BUDGET IMPLICATIONS: The Oregon Department of Administrative Services Procurement Services (DASPS) is the central procurement authority for state agencies that are subject to DAS authority. The office develops, establishes, and administers statewide contracts for goods and services on behalf of state government. It also allows Oregon municipalities access to the Oregon Procurement Information Network (ORPIN) website for goods and services under the Oregon Cooperative Procurement Program (ORCPP), which the City of Coos Bay is a member. Therefore, Public Works staff used the ORPIN website to obtain cost for fleet replacement 1.) one Dodge Ram 2500 4X4 Pickup fully outfitted for $32,660.20, 2.) two Chevrolet 3500 HD with Dump Box and fully outfitted at $39,627.48 each X 2 = $79,254.96. ACTION REQUESTED:
At the next City Council meeting, January 171h, staff will request Council consider approval to purchase two 1-Ton Chevrolet pickup trucks and one %ton Dodge Ram 2500 pickup through Department of Administrative Services Procurement Services for a total not to exceed $117,510.16 which includes contingency and trucks fully outfitted for use.
