Companies such as HMV are professional media institutions, meaning that if my product were in their shop it would sell due to their reputation.

As well as this, HMV currently sell a lot of rock related products and merchandise, meaning that when people come into the shop looking for rock related items, they will be interested in my magazine due to it following the typical codes and conventions of a rock music magazine.

IPC is a media institution which

distributes magazines such as

NME.

NME is one of the most popular rock magazines in the UK and is distributed in certain tube stations (mostly central London and areas such as Camden), music venues, universities and selected retailers. My magazine could be distributed in a similar way as my target audience is young adults, meaning that universities would be a great place for me to distribute my magazines at as they have a wide range of characteristics within one campus.

As well as this, areas in London such as Camden attract those who are young hipsters who are interested in vintage items and bands, therefore this would be a great location for me to distribute my magazine. Furthermore Camden is a well-known tourist destination in London, therefore by attracting thousands of people a day from all around the world this location would be a good place to distribute my magazine as it will mean that I could target a larger audience.

are related to the rock genre E.g.

Electric guitars, meaning that

those who want to purchase items may be interested

in buying my magazine also.

I could also distribute my magazines in festivals and possibly make it free for those who bought their tickets online before a particular date. This would be a good way to advertise my magazine as festivals attract hundreds if not thousands of members of the public, therefore my magazine will be distributed over a large audience in a small area. Potentially, if a lot of people buy tickets online before a particular date, those who bought their tickets at a later date could wonder “what’s the big deal about NVM?”, which may result in the individuals purchasing their own due to be intrigued by the large mass of those who already have it.
