Have you ever asked yourself…
How can I contribute?
What can I do to solve the
problem?
What can I do to
develop myself?
When is somebody
going to train me?
Why is this happening to
me?
Why do they make it so
difficult for me to do my job?
How can I do my job
better today?
How can I do my job
better today?
Consider these scenarios...

“Turn and Talk”…What would you expect the response to be?
Consider these scenarios...
The response you receive…
“Don’t ask me, coffee is her department!”
Consider these scenarios...
On a cross-country flight, the flight attendant gets on the intercom and says, “Sorry everyone, but the movie we promised you will not be shown today.”
“Turn and Talk…What would you expect to hear next?
Consider these scenarios...
The response…
“Catering put the wrong movie on board.”
What Ever Happened to Personal Accountability?
The Question Behind The Question is a tool that has been developed and refined over the years that helps individuals practice personal accountability by asking better questions.
Incorrect Questions…(IQ’s) Incorrect questions are the complete
opposite of personal accountability. In each one, the implication is that someone or someone else is responsible for the problem or situation.
QBQ
One of the guiding principles of the QBQ is “The answers are in the questions, which speaks the same truth: If we ask a better question, we get a better answer?
How to Avoid those Incorrect Questions…(IQ’s)
Begin questions with “What” or “How” (not “Why”, “When,” or “Who”).
Contain an “I” (not “they,” “them,”, “we,” or “you”.
QBQs focus on action.
IQs vs. QBQs
Correct Questions… How can I contribute? How can I serve my students better today? What can I do to solve the problem? What can I do to develop myself?
