Armenia or Republic of Armenia (RA, Official Name) is situated in Eurasia, (located in Western Asia.) it is a sovereign country. In 301, Armenia was the first nation to formally adopt Christianity as its official state religion. Armenia is a unitary, multi-party, democratic nation-state with an ancient cultural heritage. FLAG OF ARMENIAThe national flag of Armenia, the Armenian Tricolour, consists of three horizontal bands of equal width, red on the top, blue in the middle, and orange (also described as “colour of apricot”) on the bottom. The Armenian Supreme Soviet adopted the current flag on 24 August 1990. On 15 June 2006, the Law on the National Flag of Armenia, governing its usage, was passed by the National Assembly of Armenia.

REPUBLIC OF ARMENIAIn 1922 Armenia became part of the Transcaucasian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic; and in 1936 this republic was dissolved and Armenia became a constituent (union) republic of the Soviet Union. Armenia declared sovereignty on August 23, 1990, and independence on September 21, 1991.

EDUCATION SYSTEM IN ARMENIAAt present, 26 state universities (of which 4 international), and 33 private (licensed) higher educational institutions function in the Republic of Armenia. There are many types of institutions, such as universities, institutes, academies and a conservatory, that provide higher education.

The most widespread spheres in the scientific and educational system of Armenia are Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Microbiology, Engineering, Medicine, Information Technologies, Armenian studies, etc.

The Ministry of Education and Science is the authorized state body for education and responsible for developing and implementing state policy/strategy and for legislation in higher education.

The National Centre for Professional Education Qualify Assurance Foundation (ANQA) which was established on December 2, 2008, is an independent foundation responsible for promoting quality at higher education level.

According to legislation, staff at the higher institutions is divided into the following categories: professors, associate professors, candidates of sciences and doctors of sciences. Staff is selected by open competition.

The Armenian degrees are globally recognized worldwide. They are recognized by the The Ministry of Education and Science, Medical Council of India, World Health Organization and so on.

The Medical council of India recognizes only the courses offered by those medical institutions which are listed by the WHO (World health organization) in the world directory of medical schools. Note should also be made that many Indian private medical colleges are still not recognized by the MCI.

Indian Students seeking admission in medical courses in Armenia through Armenia education will be admitted only in those Universities whose degree are recognized by WHO and the Medical council of India.

Recognition of Degree

As per the screening test regulation act 2002, of the medical council of India, an Indian citizen possessing a primary medical qualification awarded by any medical institution outside India who is desirous of getting provisional or permanent registration with the Medical Council of India or any State Medical Council on or after March 2002, shall have to qualify a screening test conducted by the prescribed authority for that purpose. As per the provisions of section 13 of the Act. Once the student successfully completes his Medical course and obtains the Medical degree from Armenia He / She is expected to appear and pass the screening test conducted by the National Board Of Exams on behalf of the Medical Council of India.

Students should have passed Class 12 under the 10+2 scheme/senior school certificate examination (CbSE) or Intermediate Science or an equivalent examination from a recognized University/board from any state with English, Physics, Chemistry and biology as the main subject.

The student must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in physics, chemistry and biology at the qualifying exam.(40% in case of ObC/SC/ST candidates) and (45% in case of PWD candidate).

He / She must have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the year of admission to Armenian Medical University.

The duration of the medical course will be for a total period of 6 years. All courses are taught in English Medium during the whole period of study.

YSMU owns three hospital complexes: Heratsi Hospital Complex, Muratsan Hospital Complex and Mikaelyan Institute of Surgery. Heratsi Hospital Complex is the oldest center in Armenia. Clinical bases of YSMU enable students to get valuable practical knowledge. Teaching staff combines both theoretical and practical medicine processes.

Our university has four buildings: Main, Administrative, Laboratory, and Anatomical. Our big campus allows us to host more than 8000 students and more than 1100 people from faculty and staff.

Library is available for students’ in-campus studies and there is always space for our students to brainstorm and come up with new ideas. Campus also includes 3 hospitals that belong to the university.

There are more than 30 affiliated hospitals with which Yerevan State Medical University works closely. University-owned dormitory is located nearby so that students are able to get to the university easy and fast. All rooms have necessary equipment. School of General Medicine

Study program: Continuous and Integrated

Duration: 6 years (12 semesters)

The academic year consists of two semesters. The first semester starts on September 1 and Ends in December-January. From the first to the third course, the winter examination is held in January, and in the high courses, during the academic year. The second semester starts at the beginning of February and ends in May-June. From the first to the third course, the summer examination is held in June, and in the high classes, during the academic year. During summer holidays clinical practices are conducted.

Yerevan State Medical University gives various specialization opportunities in bachelor, Master, Continuous and Integrated Education Programs as well as in Clinical Residency, Postgraduate Studies. It offers one bachelor, two continuous and integrated and five master’s degree programs.

Students get 30 credits each semester except distance postgraduate program students. The University has a postgraduate medical education, clinical internship, with more than 80 specializations in Armenia.

More than 30 hospitals are affiliations and clinical bases for different faculties of YSMU. They have high reputation in Armenia and provide wide range of medical services. Hospitals are equipped with modern medical technologies and have experienced doctors as teachers. During practical part of studies students go to those hospitals and get a real life experience. History of creation: Yerevan “Haybusak University” has been founded in 1990. The first rector and founder of the university was Doctor of biology, Professor L.V.Harutyunyan whose progressive ideas about modern higher education underlay the activity of Higher Educational Institution. being an outstanding scientist and pedagogue, L.Harutyunyan could unify the best minds of science and academic pedagogy, and very soon “Haybusak” occupied leading positions not only in higher education but also became a founder of many new principles of the modern higher school of Armenia. “Haybusak” received a new state license of the Ministry of Education of RA in 1991, state license of the Ministry of Health in 1993 in the field of medical, economic and technological higher education.

Today Yerevan “Haybusak” University is a unique internationally oriented educational – scientific center that is widely known not only in

Armenia but also in a number of foreign states.

The staff consisting of more than 500 employees works in the University from which 350 lecturers, the 85% of which are Candidates, Doctors of Sciences, Associate Professors and Professors.

The quality of education, received in “Haybusak”, is confirmed by success of more than 9000 graduates who work in many countries of the world in different fields of Economics, Public Health, Pedagogy, etc. A number of candidates of sciences, successful art-managers and laureates of state awards, champions and art workers are among them.

In 2007 the base higher school of the University was founded, the graduates of which successfully enter not only “Haybusak” but also state Higher Educational Institutions of Armenia and pursuant to applicable Contract, enter the Universities of the USA and Europe without admission examinations.

“Haybusak” is a sole non-governmental university of Armenia with the state accreditation.

The faculty of foreign students has been opened since 2002 where the citizens of the CIS countries, Europe, USA, Iran, Israel, India, Syria and Lebanon study.

� Separate hostels wings are provided for boys and girls on sharing basis furnished with basic amenities and are centrally heated.

� Laundry equipment is also available at the Hostel. Twice a month students are provided with clean beddings free of charge.

� First-Aid Unit at the Hostel provides first aid and medical care on a 24-hour basis.

� There are 4 cafeterias in the University campus and one in the Hostel. Hostel residents are served with free breakfast on each working day.

� Yerevan State Medical University has recently launched its Career Centre. In 2017, the Career Centre started FMGE exclusive classes for Indian students free of cost. Furthermore, selected students are provided with free tablets. The classes are held at the University hostel during the evening hours as well as during the weekends, for the convenience of the students.

� The hostels house students regardless of sex, age, nationality, religion and ethnic diversity.

� The facilities bring together students from various academic years and medical-related fields.

� The hostels provide spaces for various activities such as reading, watching television, etc. Accommodations include rooms with up to three beds; the WCs (bathroom units) and the shower cubicles are located at both sides of the floors.

HostelThe Yerevan Haybusak University in line with its mission to provide top quality education to the students, subscribes to a large number of periodicals/magazines and book. The library consists of more than 20000 books in Medicine and other general subjects. The books are issued to students for self-study for a specified number of days.

Mkhitar Gosh Armenian-Russian International University is an old university located in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia. Academic ActivityFrom its first day the University adopted a clear policy of implementation of theoretical and practical research in accordance with the strategic plan, which is based on the following idea: to restore and to put on scientific basis the diagnosis and treatment methods of traditional medicine.

Research projects include scientific articles, monographs, textbooks, manuals and methodological guidelines. besides professional staff, the students and alumni also participate in researches.

Taking into account the peculiarities of traditional and modern medicine, methodology of traditional medical research was developed in compliance with the requirements of the World Health Organization (2002), international scientific achievements and development trends.

The research is the main direction of professors’ and students’ activity. This strategy of scientific research suggests another solution for interrelated problems:

• Expansion of scientific research, renovation and scientific proposition of traditional medicine’s diagnosis and treatment methods, publication of scientific articles, monographs, manuals, guides and textbooks;

• Development of the scientific potential of the UTM, promotion of professors’ and students’ scientific research on the basis of the results of the studies;

• Development of educational program of “Traditional medicine”, making bases for the development of the program of “Integrative medicine”, creating a solid educational base.

LibraryLibrary: UTM Library had about 6150 copies of educational and scientific literature. Alongside With traditional library fund the University also has electronic library. Year by year the book-reserve is increased with up-to-date publishing books and literature.
