8:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Registration – breakfast served

9:00 a.m. - 9:40 a.m.

Session 1: Point-of-sale, PCI, data theft and the future of credit/debit cards: Some of the latest victims of data theft are large retailers tied to POS systems. Europe seems to be a step ahead of this breach trend given the use of chips rather then swipe cards. However, the whole reliability of retail purchasing is coming into question. Where does the Payment Card Industry’s set of regulations fit in here and what are the wise next steps – both in process and technology – to stay out of the headlines? Dave Whitelegg, senior information security & PCI consultant, Capita

9:45 a.m. - 10:25 a.m.

Session 2: Never forget the 80-20 rule: As it applies to cyber security, 80% of threats can be thwarted by applying known best practices. As scary and newsworthy as are the other 20% – zero days, APTs, etc. – you always need to make sure you practice good cyber security hygiene to protect against the 80%. In our business, staying ahead of the low-lying fruit is a good thing.Derrick Bates, trust information security officer, North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust; Sarah Stephens, head of cyber & commercial E&O, Aon; Mike Jolley, head, information security and risk, YBS Group

So, while enterprises across industries concern themselves with mobile devices, the cloud and POS malware, your neighbors’ refrigerators and microwaves are DDoSing your website. How real and serious is this threat and what does it mean for the security industry? Barry J Coatesworth, information security officer, New Look
