Production of Elipex pre-insulated pipes, materials, technology and qualitycontrol is in accordance to standards set by Euroheat and Power, the International Association for district heating, district cooling andcombined heat and power.

Type tests and yearly inspections along with regular production andquality control within SET are executed by the following institutions:

General standards and testingElipex pipes from SET and joint connectors are produced in accordance with characteristics, measurements, strength and quality required by European standards: EN 15632 for pre-insulated flexible pipes.

SET uses only cross-linked Polyethelyne plastic pipes (PEX) from accredited manufacturerswhen producing insulated heating pipe systems.

Production of PEX pipes are in accordance to the following standards:

Plastic quality and characteristics: ...............DIN 16892Measurements and weight: .........................DIN 16893Oxygen diffusion barrier (EVOH material): ....DIN 4726 (< 0,10g/m3d)

PU Insulation foamThe insulation material is made from a mixture of Polyol and Isocyanate components, producing hard polyurethane foam (PU).The PUR Insulation fulfills the requirements of EN15632 / EN253, European standardsfor pre-insulated piping systems.Production sample tests are performed on a daily basis.

The main characteristics of hard polyurethane foam in heating pipes are:Characteristics: .....................EN / 253Average cell size: ..................< 0,5 mmClosed cellular structure:........> 92%Density: ................................> 60 kg/m3Compressive strength:...........> 0,3 MPa ISO 844:1978Water absorption: ..................< 10% EN15632 / EN253/chapter 5.3.5Thermal . conductivity:...........< 0.025 W/m°C (C-pentan-blown)Max. PE Casing PipesCasing pipes are made from black polyethelyne.Only accredited material is used with pipe production and strict standardsfollowed.PE material works exceptionally well in protecting the insulation, with betterstrength, impact and light resistance compared to other plastic materials.

The main features of PE casing pipes are:

Material: .........................................Polyethelyne - PEDensity: .........................................> 945 – 954 Kg/m3Color: ............................................Carbon Black >2.5% of massCharacteristics & measurements: ....EN15632 / EN253Thermal conductivity:......................0,43 W/m°C

Connecting PEX pipes

1. Slide shrink sleeve on to pipecasing.

2. Slide sleeve on to PEX pipemaking sure to turn correctly.

4. Place fittings immediatly inpipe. The pipe will quickly shrinkautomatically towards fittings.

5. Position sleeve and fittingsin compression tool.

6. Push sleeve towards fittings.

7. Repeat with other end ofconnecting joint.

PEX joint connecting is completed using sleeves, shrink sleeves, PUinsulation or PU shells. Please see page 17 for information.

3. Using metal pressure couplingand making sure it is placed com-pletly in pipe, stretch pipe. Turn30° and repeat.
