Years 3 – 6 News

Robotics Camp

Bribbaree Public School is hosting a Robotics

Camp on the 9th and 10th September for Year 4

and above and I have booked four students in to

the course. The lead trainer from Mac IT will be

teaching the pupils how to build and program the

robots. This camp should be lots of fun and

complement the robotics the Year 6 boys will be

learning in at the Henry Lawson High School in

the second half of the term. It is planned that

these students will return and teach the rest of us

how to use our Robotics kits properly.

Science and Engineering Day

On Friday 21st August Year 6 have been invited to

attend a Science and Engineering Day at The

Henry Lawson High School. The students will

work in cooperative groups to problem solve.

They may have to build a catapult, a rocket, a car,

a bridge or a tower. Last year the students had a

lot of fun mixing with pupils from the other

schools. I know the boys will enjoy this day again.

The 26-Storey Treehouse

Students in 3 - 6 will be travelling to Wagga

Wagga Civic Theatre on the 31st August to see

the production of The 26-Storey Treehouse. The

play has been travelling around the state and has

been collecting some excellent reviews. Details

of our travel arrangements and a permission note

will be sent home when finalised.

3 - 6 Homework

Students should be working on their CWA

Projects on Italy as it is due at the end of next

week. We have been writing summaries in class

and the students are able to take their books

home. If they bring a USB to school they can

copy the work or send it home by email. They

should all have white cardboard by now.

K, 1 – 2 News

Kindergarten took home some tricky words

yesterday (on blue paper, glued in a book). They

can practice these during the week and bring the

book back on Monday for more words to be glued

in.

We are in the garden this week.

Book Club is due on Monday, 3rd August.

Stay tuned for more information regarding

sporting schools (The new active after schools

name). This program has only just been

launched so is taking a little while to roll out. It

will be offered for 5 weeks and will be Table

Tennis. More details to follow.

Date for your Diary: Book Week Celebrations

will be August 19th. Start thinking about those

costumes.

The country we will be studying this year will be Italy.

Due the end of the fourth week TERM 3 – 7th August 2015

ALL YEARS 3 TO 6 STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO TAKE PART

Over the next three weeks we will spend considerable time in class reading about Italy and learning how to make summaries. The students will end up with information for their projects. I will be assessing how they do this.

Students will need to collect pictures of Italy.

Students who wish to make their project unique will need to be doing additional work on the project for homework. Parents are encouraged to help with layout on the cardboard.

ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO SUPPLY THEIR OWN WHITE CARDBOARD.
