Graepel has a longstanding tradition of producing high quality products. We have been supplying the quarrying and recycling industry for over 50 years.

We provide a range of woven mesh and perforated screens alongside our walkways and steel steps that are suited for the quarry and recycling industry.

Please take the time to look at our selection of products outlined in this brochure. We are confident that Graepel has the product you need at a competitive price.

This brochure is not exhaustive and a Graepel representative would be more than happy to discuss individual requirements and work with you to provide a product you can rely on.

High Tensile and Stainless Steel

Screens from stockGraepel stock a complete range of mesh sizes which can be promptly cut and hooked to your requirements.

Overnight deliveries are possible on stock items if ordered early enough in the day.

Special items not in stock will be promptly manufactured to your requirements.

Wire Mesh Screens

We weave a full range of square and slotted or elongated meshes in all screen sizes.

These screens can be supplied with raw edges, hooked or curved into Trommel-type rotary screens.

Welded mesh screens are also available.

A full range of Self-Cleaning screens and Piano Wire screens can be supplied to order.

Crimp Types

Flat top: all the mesh knuckles being on the underside, allowing material to move more freely over the screen and keeping plugging to a minimum.

Double crimp: evenly crimped in warp and weft, providing a rigid construction. The wires are under crimped and sprung together thus giving a tight mesh. This is used mainly with lighter wires to ensure tension in a light screen.

Lock crimp: a variation of the double crimp to ensure that wires remain in their exact positions.

Corrugated crimp: extra crimps in warp and weft with the wires seated in every third and fifth crimp. Gives a rigid mesh when making slotted mesh even when the aperture is large in relation to the diameter of the wire.

QualityManufactured to IS.EN ISO 9001:2008

Graepel take pride in making woven mesh to the highest standards.

We always ensure that the highest quality high tensile and high carbon stainless steel wire is used in our screens.

Quality down to the smallest detail in production is extremely important to us.

Great care is taken right from the start- from crimping the wire to weaving, cutting to size and finally hooking the screens.

Woven Mesh TypesSquare mesh: the cheapest if the woven mesh range; it lasts the longest and is very cost effective when used for screening and producing a regular shaped material that doesn’t cause the screens to clog.

Rectangular slotted mesh: has the advantage of being economical to manufacture abd has a greater open area for increased flow where binding or clogging can be a problem. It’s variable slot length means that it’s often used to reduce the flake content of material to acceptable levels.

Extra long slotted mesh: is stronger and more cost effective in comparsion to piano wire or self cleaning screen types. It’s produced with either double or triple cross wires to give greater open area and higher throughput than the normal slotted mesh. Slotted mesh is also available in larger apertures than piano wire-type screens.

Self cleaning screens: although more costly, prevent clogging or binding in very difficult conditions. These screens are made up of crimped and straight wires connected by cross wires at regular intervals. The idea here is that the different wires vibrate independently of each other helping to avoid clogging or binding. Piano wire screens: can be more fragile than other screens but give very good performance with regard to throughput and binding. These types of screens are generally supplied for smaller screen sizes where wet sticky conditions exist.

Materials

Screen mesh is manufactured in both high tensile carbon steel and stainless steel from 1.6mm to 150mm in wire thickness ranging frm 1.2mm to 12.7mm.

Weld Mesh Screens: generally the cheapest type of screen. Manufactured from mild steel or stainless steel. Weld mesh is not as durable as woven mesh but offers the advantage of being able to regulate material flow based on the direction of the cross wires. Cross wires

perpendicular to material flow will slow material down and cross wires in line with material flow will speed it up. Welded mesh can be manufactured using up to 25mm diameter rod for difficult conditions such as scalping screens.

perforated Screen Plates

Mild Steel and Stainless Steel

Manufacturing CapabilitiesPerforated metal is available from 0.5mm to 25mm thick in plate sizes up to 4m x 2m.

Perforations range from 0.5mm round to 150mm. Round and square holes are the most popular for screening and slotted or elongated holes are used more for dewatering buckets or special applications.

Perforated screens are mostly supplied in mild steel Type 43A although other material can also be perforated.

Punched plate scalping screens Our rolling, bolt holing and welding facilities enable us

to supply complete screens ready for fitting

Perforated metal screens: are available in mild steel, stainless steel and some wear resistant materials and are mostly used as scalping screens. They can be supplied flat or hooked in a wide range of hole shapes including round, square, rectangular and hexagonal.

perforated Screen Plates

Pegging or Clogging

Perforated plate has the distinct advantage of having tapered holes thus reducing the chance of clogging.

The smooth side of the perforation is always the smallest dimension.

This means that perforated plates should be installed with the smooth side facing the materials to be screened.

To reduce the chance of pegging, please remember when ordering, that regular shaped material is suited to square holes and irregular shaped material is suited to round holes.

Round holes with 60 ̊ staggered pitch

Polyurethane punched screen

Rubber screens: have a lower open area than wire mesh especially on smaller apertures. Although more costly in the short term they offer the advantages of longer life and reduced noise levels. These are ideal as an impact section on the upper part of a screen box prior to wire screens or on a complete deck where required.

Polyurethane screens: tend to be lighter, thinner and more flexible than rubber screens. They can be successfully punched in different hole shapes with smaller apertures and work well where plugging is an issue.

Safedeck- Stabil S Safedeck- StegSafedeck- Stabil

Graepel supply a complete range of walkways steps and ladder rungs for the quarrying industry. There are three main types of surface supplied:

Flat bar grating: supplied generally in large 6m lengths and are ideal for extreme dirt situations. This grating can be supplied with smooth or serrated load bearing bars.

Ladder rung- L0/GS Ladder rung- L0/RSLadder rung- L0/30

Safedeck- Round S

Ladder rung- L0/8

Safedeck walkway: made from punched sheet steel which is folded into planks. It’s ideal for lifting into awkward areas because its light and can be lifted by hand. It’s also ideal for steps and platforms where there is extreme risk of slipping.

Graepel ladder rungs: made from punched and pressed sheet steel. They are normally welded in place to make up safety ladders.

The above range of products are held ex stock ready for delivery next day if necessary.

Expanded metal walkway mesh: the cheapest alternative ideal for walkways and ramps where there are short spans and existing framework is already in place.

Ordering Screens

One of the biggest problems for both the customer and the manufacturer when ordering screens is trying to avoid unnecessary downtime.

This can be avoided by communicating your forecasted usage of replacement screens at the time of order. If you don’t know what this is then the average lifetime of the screens will do. We will then aim to have enough stock to satisfy your requirements in advance by noting this in our calendar and with your permission sending you a reminder by email, text or telephoning you near the date of replacement.

Useful information when ordering screens
