NOTES The Apuro 20 Liter Planetary Mixer is heavy-duty, gear

driven machine. The VPM20 (HL-11012CE) has a Safety Guard with Limit Switch.

Disconnect electrical cord from power supply before maintenance.

NOTES Under the transmission case at the front of the

mixer head is the gear hosing cover. At the center is the planetary bearing retainer. To the above is the transmission and worm gear retainer. The alignment dowels next to the screws that secure the planetary cover.

The transmission case is filled with a special grease that will last for several years. When grease is needed for replacement, it should be ordered from us.

If you are replacing broken or badly worn parts discard all the lubricant.

Grease the upper ball bearing then carefully work them into place. The bearings on both shafts must be installed with the open sides down.

Be sure that Cover Plug (3) is tighten in the hole.

Be sure to install correct position (see Figure 2-1) and lubricate all of the pins in the sleeve drive when reassembling.

Clutch (20) must always be raised and lowered smoothly. Be sure clutch sleeve as shown in Figure 2-2

Check oil seal (3), if serious oil leaks from drip cup.

NOTES At the center is the planetary shaft unit. To the

above is the transmission and worm shaft unit. (see figure 3-1)

Bearing (5) is grease packed and will require little attention.

Oil Baffle (7) has to be changed with a new one when assembling, apply sealant to it and reinstall it.

C-Type Snap Ring (8) has to be fixed when reassembling.

Be sure that that the keys are inserted for each gear.

NOTES At the center is the planetary shaft unit. To the

above is the transmission and worm shaft unit. (see figure 3-1)

Worm and Worm Gear must mesh perfectly., check teeth for alignment. (see figure 4-1)

In case of drive train problem, check Worm first, then Worm Gear, then Drive Gear and Spring Pin.

Bearings (10) is grease packed and will require little attention.

Oil Baffle (8) has to be changed with a new one when assembling, apply sealant to it and reinstall it.

Oil leaks from the rear of the mixer usually mean the oil seal (2) is defective and must be replaced.

NOTES If the motor does not work, first verify the

power source and connection. Next, check for damaged or faulty wiring or connections inside the mixer. A non-working motor may be the result of inappropriate voltage, broken wires, a defective capacitor, or a defective centrifugal governor. Motor damage may also be caused by bowl overload during mixing.

It is not necessary to open the gear case unless a change of gears (worm and worm gear is needed)

.To replace the motor, first install the stator in the machine head and secure in place.

Figure 5-2 is component system diagrams of motor.

NOTES Various attachments and accessories for this

machines, such as vegetable slicer and meat mincer.

Standard, #12-sized hub attachment are installed into the hub shaft by first loosening the hub plug thumb screw, and removing the hub plug. Install the hub attachment and rotate slightly until it locks into place. Then tighten the thumb screw to secure the attachment. Reverse the procedure to remove the attachment. For safety, the hub plug must always be installed and secured with the thumb screw when the hub is not in use. Chopper attachment should be operated in 3rd speed.

Power off to avoid serious personal injury when removing or mounting attachments.

Do not put hand into feed opening of chopper when operating.

Check O ring (2)or oil baffle (6), if serious oil leaks from hub attachment. Apply sealant to the hub shaft assembly, and

install it.

NOTES The speed selector / shifting mechanism is

designed for simplicity and reliability. It features three mixing speed.

Speed selection is made by aligning the pointer of the shifter handle (2) with the proper number on the shift selector (5). Stop the mixer before making any speed changes.

Apply sealant to the shift selector (5) assembly, and install it.

NOTES The complete planetary assembly can be

removed without opening the Transmission case. An oil leak from the bottom of the planetary head

means the oil seal on the bottom of the mixing shaft is damaged and must be replaced.

These bearings are grease packed and will require little attention. Service technicians may remove these bearings should greasing become necessary.

To remove the mixing shaft from the planetary head, first remove the lock nut and washer on the mixing shaft inside the planetary head. Take off the head ring (6) once a month and wipe

it clean

NOTES Lower the bowl and remove the bowl and

agitator before replacing bowl support. Clean the bowl lift slider bars and lubricate

lightly with mineral oil monthly. Adjust bowl height by screw (7), but loose nut

(1) first. (see figure 10-1) A new casting will fit with the old bowl support. The bowl Height adjusting screw can be adjusted

to increase or decrease bottom clearance. The bowl Height adjusting screw can be reached

from below with a long screwdriver. Turn right for increase clearance. Turn left for reduced clearance.

NOTES Bowl lift unit is fixed with bowl support. (see

figure 10-1) The bow lift is reliable lever-type device that is

spring-locked when in raised position for mixing. The bowl Height adjusting screw can be adjusted

to increase or decrease bottom clearance. The bowl Height adjusting screw can be reached

from below with a long screwdriver. Turn right for increase clearance. Turn left for reduced clearance. Check adjustment with bowl and beater.

NOTES Any agitator is easily installed by simply raising

it onto the mixing shaft, and then rotating it clockwise until it locks into place. To remove, raise the agitator on the shaft until it clears the lock, and then rotate counter-clockwise and lower.

All of tools are precisely fitted to the bowl, rounded corners and easily removable for cleaning.

Always check clearance between flat beater and bowl. Beater should clear the bowl bottom by 3-5 mm. (see figure 12-1)

NOTES HL-11012CE has this heavy gauge, high

polished stainless steel safety guard with a limit switch that immediately shut off power to protect operator.

Take off the head ring (1) once a month and wipe it cleans.

Safety Guard is optional for standard type HL-11012.
