The Christmas Celebrations of Mexico La Virgen de Guadalupe The celebration of the Our Lady of Guadalupe, The Patrona of Mexico, begins on December 3 rd and culminates on December 12 th. Her image appeared on the cloak of Juan Diego on December 12, 1531, marking her as an ambassador from the sun, the highest of all the Aztec gods. Her light and power are remembered for the nine days of processions and pilgrimages. Nacimientos Nativity scenes are very popular throughout Mexico, but are especially important in Guadalajara, due to the artistic influence of Tlaquepaque, where many figures are made. Many of these nativity scenes are in homes, businesses and churches displayed starting on December 14 th and kept on display until February 2. La Noche Buena After the arrival of Spaniards in Mexico, Father Pedro de Gante began the celebration of Christmas with the “Misa de Gallo” (mass of the rooster). Held at midnight on Christmas Eve, this mass is very popular. La Flor de la Nochebuena The flower of the holy night, poinsettias, was considered by the Aztecs to be a symbol of the new life earned by the warriors who died in battle. Legend has it that these warriors would return to earth as hummingbirds and butterflies to sip the nectar of the Poinsettia. Año Nuevo A celebration in Mexico would not be a celebration without music, dancing, skyrockets, fireworks. December 2011 Super 1 Foods Expansion in North Tyler Brookshire Grocery Co. held its groundbreaking of a new Super 1 Foods Store that will be built next to the current store located at 1105 E. Gentry Parkway in North Tyler. The new store will be larger than the current store which was build in 1989. Great varieties and quantities will be offer and a larger pharmacy will be included. A drive-through window at the new storeʼs pharmacy and two tortilla operations be new additions. Fresh corn and flour tortillas will be made daily. How to Avoid a Cash Crisis Cash is king no matter what shape the economy is in.  Its also important to note that Cash crunches can also impact businesses that are growing.  Things to consider to protect your precious cash life line.  Forecast your cash flow.  Smart business owners plan  their cash needs.  If incoming and outgoing cash it too tight, they can  adjust to avoid a cash crisis.Limit exposure to slow paying customers.   Donʼt get caught just having a few large customers.  Typically larger companies take longer to pay.  Diversify your customer base that favor faster paying customers.Invoice frequently.  Many businesses invoice on a monthly basis or at the end of the project.  Consider invoicing every week or make arrangements to get progress payments. Higher Profitability Standards.    During a down economy or credit crisis, low profit margin businesses are most vulnerable to financial headaches. Donʼt be shy about getting rid of services or products that donʼt

exceed your industryʼs average profit margins. D o Yo u N e e d a n E m p l o y e r Identification Number? No, if you are a sole proprietor with no employees.  You can use your Social Security number to report your income and expenses on a Schedule C   with your personal income tax return.  Also, you donʼt need a EIN if you submit a W9 Form and will receive a 1099 at the end of year as a subcontractor.   However, using an EIN instead of your Social Security number will reduce instances of identify theft. You definitely need an EIN if you have employees, your business is partnership or corporation.  There might be some other instances where you might need one.  Recommend you check with a Certified Public Accountant.    The easiest way to apply for an EIN is on-line.  Go to IRS.gov.  The EIN is issued immediately.
