Prayer for the End of the Virus Almighty and merciful Father, who show Your love to all Your creation. We come before you asking for a quick control of the Coronavirus currently ravaging our world. Hear graciously the prayers we make for those affected by the virus in various parts of the world. Grant healing to the sick, eternal life to the dead and con-solation to the bereaved families. We pray that an effective medicine to combat the sickness be speedily found. We pray for the relevant governments and health authorities that they take appropriate steps for the good of the people. Look upon us in your mercy and forgive us our failings. Amen.

Sixth Sunday of Easter

Social Justice Corner

Always be ready to give a reason for your hope. 1 Peter 3:15 During these uncertain pandemic times, it is a temptation to be afraid, to be worried about sickness, finances, job loss, even death, to be saddened by the lack of physical contact of extended family, church community, and especially receiving Jesus in the Eucharist. Children and older students are ‘distance learning’ with parents often juggl-ing to keep them engaged while working at home. Yet the Risen Lord walks with us and gives us His Advocate, the Holy Spirit, to live in us, to give us peace and the strength to face life day by day. My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid. John 14:27 Jesus wants us to experience true shalom, that is, peace. Shalom includes balance, har-mony, wholeness, and fulfillment. At Mass, following the Our Father, the priest prays for this shalom with these words: "Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ." Jesus, grant me the grace to accept your gift of shalom, that my heart might not be troubled, that I might live life unafraid. When I encounter others this week who might be overwhelmed with the pandemic, help me to show them your peace, your shalom, by my words and actions. Let my life be a testimony to my faith in you. Amen. What is the root of your fear that you can turn over to Jesus? What action can you take to reach out to others, especially your family, to assure them God is with them as with you? Peter reminds us, “Always be ready to give a reason for your hope.”

School News Students reflected and shared what they like about learning at home and what they miss. They like having more time to sleep in before starting school because

they are not commuting to school, but they miss seeing their teachers and friends. Gathering online is great to be able to see teachers and friends and to pray together. Comfy clothes were a popular comment for the learning at home environment. Finally, many mentioned that they like spending more time with their families.

Rice Bowl Donation Throughout the Lenten season, we used the C.R.S. Rice Bowls as a way of practicing almsgiving. During normal circumstances, parishioners would bring their offerings to the church and we would then send in the funds. That is not possible this year, but you can still support the C.R.S. Rice Bowls. Below are the ways to make donations to C.R.S. Please remember that no matter which way you choose, note that the donation is from Queen of Apostles in the Diocese of San Jose. Online: http://support.crs.org/donate/change-life-lent-0 By phone call: 877-7277 from 8am to 11pm EST. Be sure to let the Operator know that the gift is for C.R.S. Rice Bowl. By mail: Please write C.R.S. Bowl in the memo line of your check and mail it to Catholic Relief Services, C.R.S. Rice Bowl, P.O. Box 17090, Baltimore, Maryland, 21297-0303.

Special Request We are trying to get responses to our QofA Businesses form so that we can support businesses who are open and owned by community members or family of community members. If this applies to you or someone you know, please complete the form at https://forms.gle/2GKkm5zCwLZ4eYoi8

Sandwich Making Dear Parishioners, Our Queen of Apostles Social Justice Committee is look-ing for additional volunteers who would like to join us in making sandwiches for residents of the Casa de Clara Women’s Shelter in San Jose. Actually, several other parishes in the San Jose Diocese already participate in this ministry, to the point that QofA only needs to make 50 of those peanut butter & jelly sandwiches twice a month. Experience has shown that it only takes about 15 minutes for two people to make sandwiches, and another 30 minutes, round-trip, to deliver them. Clearly, the commitment is small, but the need is real and very much appreciated. Please consider joining with other parish members to keep this service well staffed. Jan Wedig, 408-735-0408, will be happy to take your call.
