Today, we celebrate Catechetical Sunday. We welcome our teachers and catechists who will be commissioned at the 9:30am Mass to teach and to share their faith with our students during the coming year. Our teachers and catechists help to provide a solid

foundation of their faith. They reinforce the call each of us has to live out our faith and be actively involved in the Church. The theme for school is that we are many parts, we are all one body. Hopefully by working together, we build a strong community that focuses on Jesus being the center of our faith. My prayer is that we can pull our talents, resources and abilities together to make this a successful and meaningful year where spiritual growth is taking place.

Next weekend, we will be celebrating our Parish Fest. I hope that you will set some time aside to come out and support the parish. Many people have worked hard to make this event a success. If you haven’t purchased your raffle ticket as of yet, you can do so after all the Masses this weekend or at the Fest next weekend. A reminder that weather permitting, the 11:30am Mass next week will be celebrated outside in the St. Joseph’s parking lot. There will be NO 4:00pm Mass next Sunday, please take note!

If you are interested in learning about our faith and journey of the Church or completing the sacraments of Eucharist or Confirmation, the RCIA program has started. If you would like to assist or journey with the candidates or offer support, you are asked to call Deacon Bob at the Rectory and leave your name and number.

Thank you to those who contributed to the special collection for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Your response was wonderful. It is gratifying to see what we can do when we work together as one and support one another.

See you at the Fest! Pray for good weather!

Have a good week.

God Bless,

Today’s gospel message is one of mercy and forgiveness. God’s love for us is so great that he sent his only Son as a sacrifice to save us. We are reminded to forgive and show mercy toward others as God has forgiven and shown His mercy toward us. Is there someone in your life who needs your forgiveness today?

Mission Trip 2017 All You Need Is Love

“This week I’ve laughed so hard I’ve cried, I’ve eaten more ice cream than I have in my whole life, I’ve shingled roofs, screamed songs at the top of my lungs, all while being with people and views I love. This is my 3rd MIssion Trip, but it has been the one that has changed me the most. I can’t remember the moment that really changed me but I

can say I found who I am this week. Maybe it was in the mountains or on a roof in the blazing heat, wherever it was I found who I am. The mission trip is my moment of love and change.”-Sam

Queen of Martyrs Students Hold “Mini” Olympics

Mrs. Creevy’s 5th and 6th Grade Science classes participated in a Mini-Metric Olympics. Students discussed scientific method steps and how variables such as wind, position, and sun in their eyes might affect the outcome. The students competed in the Spinning Paper Plate Discus, the Big Foot Contest, the Paper Straw Javelin, and the Cotton Ball Shot Put. Students worked in teams recording measure-ments and scores for each event. They determined the difference, their actual score, by subtracting the true score from the predicted score. The winning teams were awarded medals for each competition. The students exhibited great teamwork! They learned from discussing the

history of the actual Olympic Games that the five interlocking rings represent the five major continents of the world. They under-stood the meaning of the colorful rings joined together as a symbol of the sporting friendship of all mankind. Just as they exhibited exemplary sportsmanship during the QM Mini Olympics!
