1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

I mainly stuck to the conventions on my contents page too. As I was creating a magazine centred around rock music, I tried to emulate a magazine already of this genre. I chose Kerrang! Magazine, so I tried to incorporate their style of contents page with my own style.

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Double Page SpreadFor my double page spread, I tried to make it look different and unconventional, as rock music is sometimes seen like this. To do this I created my own divide between the image and article by adding a slanted diagonal line. This is different from the usual convention of a page for each separated by the divide of the pages only. For the article, rather than just an article in which somebody will write about the artist, I used more of an interview technique, with the questions asked by the writer in the red, and the answers in black.

I also used yellow for half the title and the pull quote. This sticks with my house style on the front cover and contents, creating a sense of continuity within my magazine. My main image is the same from the cover to show that this is the big article advertised on the cover as this is meant to be about a new artist, so people may not be sure of what he looks like. I did this to stop confusion within the reader. I used a close up shot under the article of the guitar as it is mentioned in the interview, so it is only logical to place the image there. It also gives a better visual to the page.
