In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

In many ways my front cover is conventional of other RnB magazines. My main imageOn my front cover is very typical of other magazines of the same genre as mine because my main image is a very powerful mid-shot, my model is staring straight intothe camera which again is conventional of an RnB magazine. Like real media products that are the same genre as mine, I have used my anchorage to mainly talk aboutCurrent artists as I found from my audience research that my audience want to readAbout artists rather than anything else. However the colour scheme of my magazine challenges forms as most RnB magazines use masculine colours such as red and blue. I chose to go against convention because my audience is mainly female and when I asked my audience which colour scheme they like purple was one of the highest chosen colours therefor I used a more feminine colour because my audience said they preferred it. When doing my research on other RnB magazines I realised that the magazines were never offering free-bees as the audience were not interestedin them. From my findings I chose to also not add any free-bees in my magazine Because I wanted my magazine to be as much like a real magazines as I could.

One thing that I noticed when researching contents pages inRnB magazines was that the word ‘contents’ was broken upInto different lines. I thought this was a fun way of writing the word And therefor thought that I would try it myself, however when I wrote It on a word document and put it against the normal way of writing itI though it didn’t look right so chose to keep the word all on the sameLine.

Other thing that I noticed about contents pages was that the imageActually seemed more important than the text, I again tried to makeMy contents page look this way as I wanted it to look as realistic asPossible. However when I tried out this layout I found that my pageLooked bare and unfinished so I chose to go against conventionAnd make the writing on my contents page more important that the pictures. As a result I think that my contents page looks More like a girlie pop magazine that a conventional RnB magazine.

My article has very much followed convention. From my genre research I found that my audience do notwant to be reading a lot of writing. So I knew that I would have tomake my writing short and to the point to keep my audience interested, therefor I made my interview question into short paragraphs so that my audience don’t lose interest, this is very conventional of RnB magazines.Another thing that I found from my research was that there is oftenone large image on the article and my picture usually sets the Mood for the rest of the article. Therefor I decided to get a pictureof Laura with her smiling so that the audience would immediately beAble to see that it was a positive interview.
