How does your media product represent

Camilla White • Camilla White • Age – 20• Female • Protagonist
• In our media product this young female is represented as, naïve, vulnerable, scared as well as determined.
• This is shown throughout the opening by the use of, editing, sound and the camera shots
Naïve In our opening sequence young
females are represented as being quite naïve.
This is represented when our young female protagonist comes out of her
office building, looks around and then receives an unknown call and doesn’t think much of it and then continues on
with her day. In this scene the lighting is very pale making the atmosphere seem normal however the non diegetic sound used, connotes a completely different feeling
to the scene of something not being quite right. The sound and editing put together in this make our protagonist Camilla seem oblivious to the trouble that is about to pursue her later on.
DeterminedIn our opening sequence young females are represented as being determined.
This is signified when the protagonist is running through the woods, although
she is seen as scared she is also viewed determined not to be caught by the
unknown character. A key moment this is shown is when Camilla trips and gets
up looking behind her to see if the unknown person is close by.
Another way this is signified is Camilla’s costume and hair which after the fall is covered in mud and leaves but she is
still determined to carry on through the branches to get free.
The camera shot being slightly jolted/shaky signifies that this scene is
fast paced and the part where the equilibrium is about to be put into
disarray.
VulnerableIn our opening sequence young
females are represented as being quite naïve.
This is signified when Camilla is running and trips, this scene signifies that the once strong and determined has reached her breaking point, her
costume throughout the scene slowly becomes dirty as well as the leaves in her hair. Slowly throughout the scene
the protagonist becomes more vulnerable as the scene goes on. Another way that the actresses
vulnerability is signified is the angle which the camera is placed when she falls. We used a high camera giving the audience the feeling that they were looking down on her, when
people look down on others it usually is because that person is viewed as weak and vulnerable, this links back to Camilla being vulnerable at this
point in the scene.
