How does your media product represent

particular social groups?Question 2

Page 2: Question 2 ppt

Overview I came across many different social groups during the

construction of my music magazine and I am going to analyse and give examples of some of the social groups I encountered during the time I worked on my music magazine and student magazine.

Page 3: Question 2 ppt

Firstly I am going to look at the three main social groups I came across

while we worked on the preliminary task: we used the colours white and blue as they are the

school colours but as these colours can be associated with stress relief and to calm people down.

Hard-working students These are the groups of students who always work and

do well in class we tried to address this by giving revision tips to them as they may struggle to study at home or may work hard in lesson but may not work hard elsewhere so that is how we addressed them.

Stressed students Stressed students are the students that stress out about

things like exams and homework and many different things like that so we have addressed them by using the colours blue and white to hopefully create a calming effect on them but also we had an article on stress in our magazine for them to read and hopefully they will feel better and hopefully want to read the magazine next week.

Popular students These students are the students that everyone likes

and usually everyone wants to be like them and they worry about what things go on around the school and not about things like work so we also addressed this by having a section for the schools gossip but also a section for the photos of the ball as we feel this is the kind of stuff they would like to read about and keep them interested in the magazine.

Now I am going to look at some of the social groups I came across

during the construction of my music magazine: I used the colours red black white and added yellow

occasionally, I used these colours as they are the most common colours associated with rock music so people will look at the magazine stand will see my magazine is associated with the rock music genre and will hopefully buy it as well.

Young teens who like rock music

For these people I put a photo on the front of my magazine of someone the young girls may like a lot and may just buy the magazine to read about him and he will hopefully be a very popular rock icon and the girls may like him a lot.

Older people who still enjoy rock music

In my magazine I have a couple of pages where we will look back a certain amount of years and we will look at what happened in those years and they may read it to see what they remember about that year.

People who go to many festivals

I will add different line-ups of different festivals and try to keep an update on different festivals and concerts and hopefully this will attract the people to read my magazine to find out about the things they want to know.

People inspiring to become rock musicians

I put in things like the top 10 guitars ever created and the best albums of 2013 to help draw them in to see which kind of guitar they should buy and hopefully they will buy it to give them tips on what to do to become famous.

People who enjoy music in general

I have added many different artists into the magazine and we look at them or interview them and then hopefully it will attract people to read it because they may like an artists from the genre but not like the genre and may buy it as the artist they like will be in the issue.
