What does a production company do?

A Production Company is responsible for funding the money for the film they are making. They are responsible for physical production of new media, performing arts, film, radio or a television program. Production companies have logos to distinguish them from competitors e.g. The Disney Symbol makes viewer aware they are watching a Disney film.

Our company Crystal Clear Productions has a reputation of producing “romantic-comedies”, so in order as an attempt to diversify we have tried to branch off into other genres starting first with a horror thriller.

The idea of distributor and who that might be and why?

The distributor is the person responsible for releasing films to the public either theatrically or for home viewing (DVD, Download, Television etc). A distributor may do this directly or through theatrical exhibitors and other sub-distributors such as film festivals.

We will feature our film to a film festival first to see the progress of it and them release it to the big screens.

Where the money might have come from for a film such as

yours?The money for our film will come from profits made from our previous productions and also we have venture capitals investing money to our film.

Films also usually give out merchandise which exposes the film to their audience before its release so for our film we will give out plastic masks which will raise money towards the film.

Advertising is also used to feature the film to the audiences so making posters, advertising our film in magazines and making a trailer for the film will help to televise our movie to a wider audience.

Why the various people are named in the titles – Which jobs appear in the title and in what order and how have you reflected

this?We’ve named the 4 main actors in our film in the opening during the newspaper clips. However they all don’t appear in the opening except for one character but the others do appear later on in the film which if we did the whole film you would see them. Their names appear in red which connotes danger and death.

The female in our opening film is the main character who gets haunted by something so she goes to investigate through out the film.

What films are similar institutionally with yours?

Working Titles is a British film production based on London who produce feature films.

They are a production company who would firstly release maybe some of their films at film festivals before screening them to the big screens.
