Question 4 and 5… Part 1 (Question 4) Who wold be the audience for your media product Target audienceMy target audience would be the young adult audience aged 15-25. Why I chose this target audience… I deliberately chose this target audience as I am able to relate/connect with this audience very well. This is not only because I am of a similar age to my target age groups but because I watch/enjoy films that are targeted to this type of age groups, moreover this enables me to create a film whereby it meets the demand of my target audiences. Additionally this age group is one in which fits the genre of my media film very well. Avatar of actors… Above is an image of my actors. I deliberately chose these actors so that my social groups can relate easily and effectively connect with the film. The fact that both actors are ‘attractive’ and of a similar age to my chosen social groups Avatar of audience… The typical age for someone who desires to watch a horror film is that of 15-25. This is perhaps because young people can relate to the horror genre more than the older audience. This does not prevent the older generation to be interested in horror films but the general target audience for a horror film is that of a person between the ages of 15-25. Stereotypically the horror genre is attracted by the ‘male’ gender rather than the ‘female’ gender. This is because males tend to be more interested in violence and a thriller whereas the females would rather go and watch a rom-com. This again does not illuminate the fact that there a vast amount of females who are interested in horror will in fact go and see the film opening. As a result the avatar for my target audience will be a combination of young adults which range in ages 15-25. Who wold be the audience for your media product

Target audience…

My target audience would be the young adult audience aged 15-25.

Why I chose this target audience…

I deliberately chose this target audience as I am able to relate/connect with this audience very well. Part 2 (question 5)

How did you attract/address your audience?

How

various design elements I have incorporated are intended to appeal to my target audience…

Due to the fact that my target audience is that of the more mature age group (16-25) I wanted to incorporate design elements which are interesting and engaging. By using smoke and changing the eye colour of my actors I have insured that the film becomes and not only more interesting but insures I engage the audience further as it captures people’s attention (as shown below in the feedback from my target audience).

Using real life media products as inspiration to insure that I attracted my audience in the best way possible….

When casting my actors I looked for young, attractive actors to insure that the audience would be able to relate to my media film. I additionally posed ‘Jo’ in a red dress inspired by the film ‘Red Riding Hood’. I did this as the audience would be able to easily recognise the motive behind the costume and be able to interact with the film further. I also did this as ‘Red Riding Hood’ was a great success and I hoped that this would be reflected within my film.

How the sound of my film attracted/ engaged my audience…

I deliberately chose music that was easily relatable to my target audience. This music in the beginning of my film opening is something that connotes the mood of my film which insure audience engagement. This music is also very popular within my target audience moreover insure that my target audience is further engaged. I chose this music deliberately as it meets the demand of my target audience whilst still insure the mood/atmosphere of my film.

Feedback from my media film opening that suggests that I targeted my audience effectively…

Things I did to attract/address my audience….

I did a combination of different things to help attract and engage my audience. Such includes…

Special effects Including relatable actors Modern costume Incorporated an interesting storyline

The majority of my audience enjoyed my film commonly empathizing their love for the choice of music and special effects. This was commented from a female audience aged 16-18 (meeting my target audience). There were additionally many comments regarding my choice of location explaining how it was chosen well and portrayed my genre effetely. This was really positive feedback as it showed me that I had effectively targeted my audience. Positive feedback additionally commented on my levels of sound and suggested I evened it out. Moreover this will make sure next time I pay further attention to that of sound- insuring high video quality.

‘The fog/smoke looked beautiful! The use of a forest worked really well to portray the horror genre.’

Elisha aged 17:

‘Love the opening title Clear narrative, sets the film, up nicely’.

Charlie aged 17:

‘Overall looked very professional’

‘The voiceovers were also cool to narrate her thoughts as she was dreaming/looking in the mirror’

‘Loved the shots of the forest, the smoke was a really nice touch and I liked the reversed footage as well. Also thought the voiceover worked well with the genre. ‘

Above are a range of comments from my target audience. On balance both female and male audiences hoped the film and liked very similar elements to the film. The fact that Christoph aged 16, stated that he enjoyed my film shows that I have effectively targeted my audience and met their needs. This additionally gives me great confidence that my film will be accepted by the larger audience when/if it were to be released. Both genders also commented on the films ability to my ability to be a professional outcome. This also shows that I effetely created a film which met the requirements of my target audience.
