Question 5How did you attract your audience?

Page 2: Question 5

My Target audience was demographic E and D, our target audience for Physiological audience for explorers,

strugglers and reformers.

We attracted our target audience due to the mise-en scene being realistic, and thinking deeper into the mind of the our main antagonist. The Location and the low key lighting this

is because the target audience was relating to the ideas and theories that are usually shown to them. Within our film we had a prop that had the main focus of the film such as

saw with the puppet. This leaves the audience with something being able to relate to the film. It also draws

attention on the narrative. The use of our characters related to Propps character theory as we involved a villain

and this was someone the audience could feel hatred towards.

When doing research into what our target audience would like I thought it would be best to find out what our audience would like would be to present a synopsis of each film to a group of classmates. They then filled in the questionnaire to the left to tell my group and I what they preferred, and what they’d improve if this was there film.

We also found out which lead it should be, it was great to know most people decided female as it made them more sympathetic.

These are the results from the questionnaire. This helped us pick the narrative and lead role. Thanks to connecting with our

audience we were able to offer what they would like and change anything that they would not want to watch.

The narrative would interest the audience. This is because the narrative was not something extremely new but it did have new ideas and have something different without being a subliminal message making the audience think and feel uncomfortable compared to being given it.

the genre itself already appeals to the teenage audience, a lot of horror films appeal to the teenage audience as they like to challenge

themself, and like the thrill of having something making you jump.

The stereotypical opening conforming to the rules had targeted the audience as they feel more comfortable with the familiar style opening.

They enjoy the suspense of being built up and not extremely being mental challenged with the subliminal messages.

The chosen cast. Male gaze theory, the young generation appealing to being able to relate more. Using characters from the same

demographic E. Dressed in the fashionable clothing, had a shaved side which was trendy when we had recorded. She had timberlands on

which was in trend. There was no dialogue but both main roles looked

You can see to the left a screengrab from my blog. From getting audience feedback we could see what people thought we needed to change. This meant we could work on what was wrong and change this to fit the criteria for our genre.

The feedback that has been posted on our blog was from 2 pupils in our AS Media class. We looked at the postive points and negative points with the micro-elements to see what could be improved.

This helped well because it meant our draft could be improved and it also showed members in our group who were our target audience about the narrative of our film which they did actually like.

Page 7: Question 5

Other than getting feedback from our audience, we also attracted people to watch it because we were the same age as some of our target audience, and we believed because we liked what we had created so would other

people. It also helped because our group was mixed with

different people, with different hobbies, personalities and it gave it a mixed review within the group.

We also uploaded the draft onto youtube which was able to be shown to a wider audience meaning friends, family

and people who come across it on youtube.

I also shared the video on facebook which got me feedback from everyone on my friends list.
