Question 7: From Preliminary to Final Product
Fahrin Sultana
I feel that as a group we have developed in general when it comes to how we put together the film piece. When we did the preliminary we weren’t very organized it was more of a case of somehow getting the task complete. In
addition, taking in hand that we did have shorter amount of time however much more organisation was needed. When we did the preliminary we sort of went
with the flow, however for the final product we had two initial screenings which allowed us to get audience feedback and also see for ourselves what worked
and didn’t. For the preliminary there wasn’t consideration on Mis En Scene and how we framed our shots. Hence the reason for breaking the 180 degree rule. In addition there wasn’t consideration on lighting which is why it was much darker on some bits and more on others, it didn’t look very good. Also we weren’t as
familiar with the camera as we were by the final product because we hadn’t had much practice which is the reason why there are some blurry shots here and there whereas on the final opening we didn’t. There was a lot more thought
gone into it. I feel I have gained a lot from when I first began as I feel that I am more aware of what an audience want to see on screen. I feel that I can be
critical and open as I watch the difference between the videos. I am now more familiar with how the camera works too and how to control lighting via the camera functions. In addition I have more experience on the editing side of things too as we spent quite some time editing on the machines which was
effective.
