As I read “A Dinosaur Lives, Virtually” listen carefully to learn about
new developments in the study of dinosaur fossils.
Dragons and Dinosaurs
• This week’s main story is titled, “Dragons and Dinosaurs”.
• In your notebook, sketch and label a picture of a dragon and then sketch and label a picture of a dinosaur. (you may look at pictures in your text book)

Pair and Share• Turn and share your drawings
with your partner. Discuss what is the same about your drawings and what is different.
• Remember to face your partner and look at your partner and at their drawings as they talk to you.
Nonfiction Texts• Nonfiction texts give facts. • In a nonfiction text, some facts
and ideas are more important that others.
• To understand nonfiction text, you need to identify the most important ideas, or the main ideas.
• A lot of times, the first sentence in a paragraph tells you the main idea for the whole paragraph.

• When you read, pause periodically to summarize sections of text.
• Remember to look for the main ideas in each section of text.
