QUESTIONNAIRE RESULTS

• I compiled together a 10 questioned questionnaire on www.surveymonkey.co.uk this was a very effective way of making, distributing my questionnaire and analysing the results afterwards. I distributed it to post on my Facebook page and to tweet the link on Twitter because I found that the most likely place that my target audience would be. In this presentation I have talked about the results from my questionnaire and how they will help me to plan and produce my psychological thriller film trailer.

QUESTION 1:

The first question shows that the majority of the answers given on my questionnaire have been answered by females. As this chart shows us that 75% of the respondents was female and only 25% male.

QUESTION 2:

From this question I wanted to find out how old the participants who was answering my questionnaire were. From the results I can see that 81% of participants said that they was 15-17, 13% are between 16-20 and 6% are between the ages of 27-29. In my questionnaire I started the age given at 15 because the youngest psychological thriller films are is a 15 and they are normally aged at an 18 film.

QUESTION 3:

From the results I get from this question I wanted to find out what my respondents like to do in their spare time, so I can start to see what type of people enjoy watching psychological thrillers. From the results presented here on this table I can see that 63% like to go out with friends or family, 38% like to watch movies, 38% like to listen to music, 50% like shopping and 25% play sports.

QUESTION 4:

In this question I asked what type of film genre is their favourite this is because i can see what the most popular genre is and how many enjoy watching psychological thrillers too. From the results I can see that most people have their favourite genre as comedy’s and romantic comedy’s with 38% answered this, then the next popular with 32% responses was psychological thrillers which help me to understand that my chosen genre is significant to my targeted audience and is popular to a large amount of people. We can see the next most popular genres was horror, thriller and action/adventure then the least favourite genre was chick flick films with a percentage of 19%

QUESTION 5:

The results from this question tells me that the majority of participants said that they had watched a psychological thriller film in the last two years with 69% of the group chose this. This shows that 31% haven’t seen a psychological thriller in the last two years.

QUESTION 6:

I can see from the results from looking at the chart in the image on the left that 69% of participants that answered the questionnaire said that they liked psychological thrillers and that 31% of participants do not like psychological thrillers.

QUESTION 7:

I asked the question ‘What do you expect to see in a psychological thriller film?’ and the answers given are presented in the images. These responses show me that I have to make sure I take in consideration that there needs to be frightening scenes, unusual music, and unusual and isolated settings, scary stuff, one main mentally ill character who is the protagonist, confused people, and a deep and interesting narrative.

QUESTION 8:

In this open ended question that I asked ‘what do you enjoy most about a psychological thriller film?’ I could tell that tension is important, lonely and trapped character, blood and the scary stuff, constant tension, a climatic ending, excitement of the action, and the crafty narrative. These answers are important because it helps me to understand what the target audience enjoys and this tells me what I must include in my trailer to link with the film.

QUESTION 9:

I wanted to find out how many from the group who answered my questionnaire tend to watch the film trailer before watching a film to show me how important trailers are to impact the film. I can see from the responses that the majority do watch the trailer before watching a film at 38% saying every time so this tells me that the trailers have a massive impact and are important so I will have to make the trailer at high quality. The participants then said that 31% said mostly, 13% said often, 13% said hardly ever and 6% said never.

QUESTION 10:

In this question I asked ‘what do you find most effective about a film trailer?’ and I found from the results that I must include this parts in my film trailer to interest the targeted audience: pull you in, scary parts, narrative must grab attention, doesn’t give to much from the film, well known actors, creepy music and fast paced shots of snippets from the film.
