Artist’s Statement
• I really became interested in photography when I was 16 years old when I started at School one.
• Before doing this class I knew nothing about darkroom photography, so this class has been an educational experience in working a camera and developing
• I’ve never really considered myself an artistic person; I’ve always considered myself to be more of a science-y type. Photography was the first art class that I’ve really taken seriously.
• Photography has an artistic side and a technical side to it, so I’m into the technical side more then the artistic side. I’ve really only become interested in darkroom photography this year, previously I though it was mostly a bygone thing.
• I prefer to not photograph people because of my stuttering, so I stick to things which I don’t need to talk to like buildings, animals, and generally non-people shots
• I’m not a huge fan of printing, I much prefer taking pictures and developing, printing requires too much fiddling with the enlarger and even then your print might not come out perfect due to either the enlarger having some problem, or even some problem in the film.
• The reason why I like photography is that it is based around what you see around you, not what’s in your imagination.
