The suspects, Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev were tracked down after an intense police hunt, and Tamerlan was shot dead by police. Dzhokhar is awaiting trial over the bombings

December 2013: The world celebrated the life of Nelson Mandela, who died at the age of 85 in December. A huge memorial service was held in Johannesburg, followed by a state funeral in his home village of Qunu
