WELCOME LETTER
Dear Colleagues,
We are happy to invite you to the Barany Society International Congress in Paris.
The meeting will be held in the Collège de France one of the most prestigious academic institutions inFrance.Although the College is 400 years old, we have a brand new congress center with large and com-fortable amphitheatres ( 500, 150, and 120 seats ) and therefore will be able to accommodate a largeaudience. We are in the heart of the Latin quarter a few minutes from many historical sites and a veryactive area for all sorts of shopping. We have not planned for any meals served because the area offersmany small food facilities with french and foreign cuisine and we have tried to keep the registration feeas low as possible to allow many to come (banquet fee will also be optional).
The scientific program will favour new avenues in our field and multidisciplinary interaction. We shall alsofavour interactions between clinicians and basic scientists.Further to a call for symposia launched during summer 2003, we have received a great number of pro-posals.This is why we shall have to run them in three parallel sessions. The meeting will therefore comprise four types of presentations: a) symposia which have now been selec-ted and which will bring together clinicians and basic scientists on specific up to date themes; b) plena-ry sessions; c) oral communications; d) posters. The abstracts will be published in a special issue of the Journal of Vestibular Research and will thereforebe referenced.Abstract instructions and submission are available on the congress web site.
We also draw you attention to the meeting in honour of D. Zee which will be held in Siena on July 4-5,2004 and which is organised in conjunction with the Barany Society meeting. Information may be obtai-ned on the following site: www.unisi.it/eventi/neurologie/homepage.htm
The Paris Barany Society meeting promises to be an exciting event. Bring your students and your collabo-rators along and spread out the news!
Please also remember that July the 14th is a major feast in France with dancing in the street and fire-works!
We look forward to seeing you all in Paris in July 2004.
