The Right Ventricle in Adults with Tetralogy of FallotTetralogy of Fallot is the most common form of cyanotic congenital heart disease, and one of the first to be successfully repaired by congenital heart surgeons. Although “fixed”, Patients born with te-tralogy of Fallot are not „cured“. Improving survi-val and quality of life for this ever-increasing adult population will continue to challenge the current and future generations of cardiologists. Adult pa-tients with tetralogy of Fallot should be seen by a cardiologist specializing in the care of adults with congenital heart disease, to be monitored for late complications. They need to be checked regularly for any subsequent complications or disturbances of heart rhythm. The most common late compli-cation is a right ventricular failure, which may require subsequent surgery.

Features 7 Complete review of the major challenges of tetralogy of Fallot 7 Key references provided at the end of each chapter 7 Indications for clinical daily practice

Contents Introduction.- Anatomy.- Genetics.- Stem Cells and Right Ventricle.- Pathophysiology.- Tet-ralogy of Fallot: late outcome.- Imaging Evalua-tion.- Functional Evaluation.- The Failing Right Ventricle.- Timing for Rvot Management.- Trans-catheter PVI.- Other Transcatheter Procedu-res.- Surgical PVI.- Other Surgical Procedures.- Late Arrhythmias: Current Approach.- Right Ventricula Management in ICU.

Autologous Resurfacing and Fracture DowellingA Manual of Transplantation Technique

This book describes in detail a unique and very precise operative technique that uses autologous cartilage/bone grafts for the reconstruction of load-bearing joint surfaces and for dowelling of non-unions. The technique, employing diamond instruments and a wet grinding process, has been developed and refined over the past 30 years at the Center for Orthopaedic Sciences (ZOW), first in Bern and later in Munich. A step-by-step descrip-tion of the method is provided for each indication, with the aid of many high-quality illustrations. Correctly applied, the technique has been very successful in restoring high-level athletes to com-petition; it can be applied even in “hopeless cases” and offers excellent late results. This guide will be invaluable for orthopaedic surgeons wishing to master this proven and effective approach.

Features 7 Describes in detail a unique and very precise operative technique using autologous cartilage/bone grafts for the reconstruction of load-bearing joint surfaces and for dowelling of non-uni-ons 7 Offers a step-by-step description of the method for each indication 7 Includes many high-quality illustrations

Atlas of Peripheral Nerve UltrasoundWith Anatomic and MRI Correlation

In recent years, sonography of the peripheral nervous system has gained widespread accep-tance. New diagnostic applications have emerged, and the field of ultrasound-guided interventions has expanded significantly: regional anesthesia, peripheral nerve blocks, and similar techniques are now frequently performed under ultrasound guidance by anesthesiologists and pain physicians alike. This atlas of peripheral nerve ultrasound is designed to meet the daily needs of both radio-logists and clinicians by allowing rapid review of typical features, knowledge of which is important for successful diagnosis and intervention.

Features 7 Side by side presentation of high-quality ultrasound images and anatomical cryosec-tions 7 Correlation with 3T MR images 7 Pho-tographs of transducer positions to assist in easy access to the region of interest 7 Advice on state of the art examination techniques 7 An aid to diagnosis and intervention

Manual of Spine SurgeryThis manual of instrumented spine surgery has become necessary as a consequence of the rapid expansion of instrumented spine surgery using different minimally invasive and non-fusion techniques. To do justice to this development, the manual aims to present the different techniques to spinal surgeons (orthopaedic, neural and general surgeons) in a clear and instructive way using detailed illustrations. The description of different open, less invasive or minimally invasive techniques will provide the spinal surgeon with useful guidelines for their use. The success of any spinal operation depends on good definition of the indications, consideration of the contrain-dications, technical and organisational factors, good operating technique and correct preopera-tive preparation and positioning of the patient. These points are presented in this book as clearly as possible and are illustrated with detailed high quality artwork.

Features 7 Practical manual with step-by-step instruc-tions 7 Added value through high-end illustra-tions 7 Covers the latest developments in spinal instrumentation and implants

Contents General aspects of spinal surgery.- Anterior upper cervical spine.- Anterior cervical spine C3 to C8 (T1).- Posterior cervical spine.- Anterior thoracic spine.- Posterior thoracic spine.- Anterior lumbar spine.- Posterior lumbar spine.

Famous First Papers for the NeurointensivistA major contribution to the literature in neuro-logy from renowned neurointensivist Eelco F.M. Wijdicks, MD, PhD, Famous First Papers for the Neurointensivist presents and critically assesses numerous papers that have made a profound impact on the diagnosis and treatment of neurolo-gically acute conditions. In general, there has been little historical work in acute neurologic condi-tions, precisely because neurology is not perceived through this perspective. Famous First Papers for the Neurointensivist addresses this problem by a scholarly treatment of early descriptions of clinical signs, syndromes and presenting the development of treatment of these acute disorders.

Features 7 First-of-its-kind volume highlight landmarks in the development of neurocritical care medi-cine 7 Written by a world-renowned leader in the field 7 Comprehensive, offering a broad discussion of 75 classic papers covering the full range of neurologic emergencies and including the original title page with key tables and figures in clear reproductions
