Purpose 

Why am I here? ό 1. Students may be enrolled in Credit Recovery if they are serious about making up credits that they 

did not complete the first time they took a face-to-face class. It’s a privilege to be here! Be happy!  ξψρ 

2. Students may be enrolled in Credit Recovery if they are at-risk for graduating and they are serious about working hard to make up for credits they need to graduate. We will do everything in our power to help you! Be happy that we want you to graduate! ǂƸƷɴɳ✌ρςξ 

What do I do here? ˑσ 3. Students will take courses in either Edgenuity.com or ALEKS.com. Edgenuity has many different 

types of course, while ALEKS only has math courses.   

4. Students in Edgenuity.com will take a 30-50 question pre-test (called a Prescriptive Test, or a Diagnostic Test) to see what they already know about the subject they are taking. Most students, even if they didn’t pass the entire face-to-face course the first time, did in fact learn a lot from their course and now is the time they need to show what they know! Cell phones will be collected during this portion of the test, in an effort to keep the tests secure.   

5. Students in Edgenuity.com will take quizzes after each lesson, topic tests after each group of lessons or unit, and Cumulative Exams at the end of a semester of material. There are also checks for understanding, virtual labs, lab reports, short answer essays, full-length essays that are part of your grade.   

6. Students in ALEKS.com will take a 30 question pre-test, and they will also be continuously pre-tested to see if they are ready for more complex topics. Students in ALEKS.com will take TESTS after 3 hours of real-time learning. Once you pass each topic in that test, ALEKS won’t require you to re-learn that topic. If you get a question wrong, then ALEKS will bring that lesson up again for you to learn a second time if you didn’t get it the first time around. NOTES HELP! ̄̄̄

Extra Curricular Eligibility ǪǗǨǡǤǥǠǣǦDzǰ ● In order to be considered eligible for athletics and extra-curricular activities your Actual 

Grade will be reflected in Infinite Campus. The Actual Grade estimates where you need to be in the course at this point in the semester, and includes all the grades you theoretically should have completed at that point in the semester.    

Grades ˖ÊϷ 1. In Edgenuity.com, your grade will be a combination of quizzes, tests, exams, virtual labs and lab 

reports (for science only), and assignments in the form of written responses, multiple choice checks for understanding, essays (some short essays, some long essays). 

2. RELATIVE GRADE: This is the grade that is relative to the entire length of the course. It includes every grade in the course, even assignments you haven’t taken yet. The assignments you haven’t taken yet are calculated as a zero in this grade. This grade MUST BE A 70% TO PASS THE COURSE!!! ǂƸƷ 

3. ACTUAL GRADE: This grade estimates where you need to be in the course at this point in the semester, and includes all the grades you theoretically should have completed at that point in the semester. This grade IS USED FOR ATHLETIC ELIGIBILITY!!!DzǪǰ 

4. OVERALL GRADE: This grade only includes the activities and assignments you have completed so far. It does not take into account your progress. You can be drastically behind in your work, and still have a high grade in this category, so be careful using this grade.   

5. ALEKS.com is mastery-based. This means that you are continually tested on a topic until you master it! As such, your progress in this course is the same as your grade. If you are 70% completed in the course, your grade is a 70%. Mastery-based courses NEED AN 80% TO PASS AN ALEKS.COM COURSE!!!ǂƸƷ 

Norms ЇЈЉρ Please bring a pencil and a spiral notebook to keep notes for your tests and quizzes. Please no food around the computers. Only liquids in closed containers allowed. No open cans or drinks with flimsy tops. Cell phones waste your time and distract your neighbors! If it becomes a problem we will lock cell phones up to help you focus, and return them at the end of class. If a student leaves class early without permission, they will receive lunch detention or after school detention the next day in Room 305, and parents will be called. If they fail to show up for detention, they will receive an additional detention. If they continue to fail to show up, we will visit the principals to come up with a solution. All tests and quizzes must be taken here at Greeley West.
