This reporting period, police re- sponded to the following calls for service. - 3 traffic violations - 3 provincial statute - 6 common police activities - 6 crimes against property - 3 crimes against person - 3 other criminal code WE WANT YOU... Killarney RCMP is looking for guards to keep watch over our guests. If you are interested in becoming a guard, please call 204-523- 7293 (admin line) and leave a message and we will call you back. Due to the current situation with Covid-19 virus, the Killar- ney, Boissevain and Deloraine RCMP detachments have no front counter services until fur- ther notice. This includes civil- ian fingerprints and criminal record checks. Please contact each detachment at 204-523- 7293 (Killarney), 204-534-7262 (Boissevain) and 204-747-2810 (Deloraine) to make your in- quiries or file a report. Leave a message if needed. If you need to speak with a police officer immediately or to report to police in accordance with your court ordered condi- tions, please call 204-523-7255. April 7, 2020 Police received a report of mischief in Hartney. The matter is under investigation. Police received a report of fraud through Kijiji in the RM of Argyle. The matter is under investigation. Police received a report of an assault in Waskada. Police located and arrested a female who was charged with assault, mischief, fail to stop after an ac- cident, and being unlawfully in a dwelling. She was released on an undertaking and will appear in court at a later date. Police received a report of sexual interference in the De- loraine-Winchester area. A fe- male was arrested, charged and released on an undertaking not to have contact with the victim. April 8, 2020 Police received a report of a vehicle with driving erratically, hit a stop sign and got stuck in the ditch and then the driver then walked home. Police at- tended and the driver was is- sued a ticket for imprudent driving. Police received a 911 call for a well being check. Everyone lo- cated safe. Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in the RM of Prairie Lakes. Police assisted with a matter under the Child Welfare Act in Waskada. April 10, 2020 Police received a report of a GMC burgundy truck with stripes on the side, a Mani- toba License plate, speeding in Ninette going approximately 70 miles per hour. Police pa- trolled Ninette and found a truck matching the description. The vehicle was found parked in a driveway. Police spoke with the resident of the home and in- formed them of the complaint. The resident said the truck has not moved and was sold and will be taken away. The vehicles plate came back to a different vehicle. The resident was in- formed the vehicle can not be on the road and license plate needed to be removed from the vehicle. Police took a statement from the complainant who did not see the vehicle’s plate as it passed. No charges as there was insufficient evidence. Police were dispatched to a well being check in Killarney. There was a medical issue and ambulance was called. April 11, 2020 Police received a report of theft in the RM of Argyle. There was insufficient evidence to proceed. Police received a report of 2 suspicious vehicles the previous night. No license plate, make or model was obtained. The com- plainant was advised to call 911 Cartwright Roblin Volunteer Fire Department was called out just before noon last Saturday, April 18 and headed north through town. It was a windy, dusty day - just the kind of day that a fire could take off. No word on how this turned out (probably that is good news). A couple of turkey vultures were soaring and swooping around the southeast corner of Cartwright looking for supper last Saturday. It was a windy day and they were putting on quite a show of fast and fancy flight. From all the twittering in the trees, it was obvious that the small birds in the area were not at all impressed by the visitors. following provincial directives: No students held back due to COVID-19 but students must ac- tively engage in learning for the remainder of the year; A student’s current mark is the lowest mark they can achieve. They can improve their mark through continued learning and assessment; Students who do not partici- pate in learning from a distance, or who will need additional sup- port upon their return to classes will be identified as ‘learning re- covery required’; All students on track to gradu- ate will graduate; provincial ex- ams are cancelled but teacher as- sessments may be implemented. Motions The following motions were passed: - ratify the lay off of the regu- lar bus drivers staffing list due to the COVID-19 global pan- demic effective April 27, 2020; - approve the extension of David Cormack’s Teacher Contract to full time for the 2020-21 school year only, as Psychologist for the Division; - sign a Teacher Contract with Tierney Demare for a .80 FTE time position effective Sept. 8, 2020, as Speech Language Pa- thologist for the Division; - sign a Substitute Teacher Contract with Brittni Mowat; - approve the increase of Am- ber Bridges’ Teacher Contract The Regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Prairie Spirit School Division was held on April 7, 2020. A motion to approve the accounts in the amount of $2,397,655.10 was passed. Administration Report COVID-19 – Public Health officials advised on March 31, 2020 that all in-classroom learning in Manitoba Kinder- garten to Grade 12 schools will be suspended indefinitely for this school year. Learning will continue from a distance while students are at home. The Su- perintendent highlighted the PSSD board deals with changes due to COVID-19
