Volume 2, Issue 5 May 2006 www.hmrca.org View the High Meadow Ranch Roundup each month online at www.PEELinc.com Ranch Roundup Official Newsletter of the High Meadow Ranch Community Association Letter from the President By Kelly Wilde All it takes is a quick look around High Meadow Ranch and you can see that our neighborhood is quickly filling up. The tree-filled lots are being replaced with beautiful homes that our new neighbors and friends are moving into. Families, retired persons, couples just starting out – they have all found a place here to call home. And with the additional homes, comes additional traffic. Some streets in our neighborhood are becoming quite the busy thoroughfares. There doesn’t seem to be as many construction vehicles coming down Post Oak Run but Champions seems to be getting more than its fare share now with the back entrance open. It can be very unnerving driving down the road with a larger vehicle, or even a smaller one, and have a cement truck or dump truck coming practically straight at you. We all have seen them going pretty much down the middle of the road until an oncoming vehicle is seen. We pray that they move over soon enough to where we don’t end up in the ditch. But even without the traffic, our roads can still be a very dangerous place. There are so many curves and hills; you don’t always know what is around the next bend. Sometimes you don’t even see the bend. We all get in a hurry – late to soccer or baseball practice, school or work. Some of us are on the phone and yelling at the kids at the same time. I know I have just been plain lucky that I haven’t run myself off the road while trying to do too many tasks besides focusing on the driving. I urge all of you; take your time in High Meadow Ranch. It is such a beautiful place to drive through. Take the time to look at the wonderful scenery, slow your car down to the speed limit and keep an eye out for those big trucks. Talk to your teenagers; remind them that they never know what may happen. They are too precious to you and to our community to take their driving privilege for granted. It is natural for them to think they are invincible – and that is part of a teenager’s “charm”. But as we have seen in recent months, that invincibility is only an illusion. The beauty of nature is here in HMR – in the land, in the homes, but especially in the people. May God keep us all safe and protected in this wonderful community of ours?
