TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION
Unit RailVac RAUK Air/Vacuum Excavator (BVES)
Model RailVac 18000/500-UK
The RailVac RAUK units are Railcare’s bespoke UK air/vacuum excavator (Ballast Vacuum Extraction System - BVES) and it has been designed and built to conform with W6A loading gauge and applicable standards. In transport mode it is approved to be dead hauled. When inside a possession and working self-propelled, it is classed as on track machine (OTM).
The RailVac RAUK’s are equipped with two diesel engines, vacuum pumps, air compressors, a manipulator arm for excavation and a unique hydrostatic transmission system that is powerful, reliable and precise in its operation. The RailVac RAUK’s utilises the carrier braking system which are controlled from all driving/operating positions. To reduce the risks of injury to personnel and damage to the infrastructure a number of emergency safety systems have also been built into the machine
The RailVac RAUK has Engineering Acceptance Certificate (EAC), Gauging Certificate and Network Rail Product Acceptance. They provide a wide range of different excavation services to Network Rail and other infrastructure owners and maintainers all over the UK.

All supplied with the track in situ and without need for disconnections or risk of damaging buried installations.
