➢ Papad is a thin wafer-like snack food particularly popular in South and South-East Asiancountries.

➢ It is toasted or deep fat fried to an attractive crispy wafer like product that is commonly usedas an adjunct to a full meal.

➢ Chapatti a popular traditional food in the Indian diet. Its preparation method is cumbersomeand unhygienic.

➢ Traditionally these activities were confined to household papad/chapatti making but in viewof increasing demand and availability of machinery (mechanization) it has now beendeveloped in cottage and small-scale sector.

➢ Human being are interested in readymade and roasted item due to heavy routine activities

➢ In market traditionally operated individual machines are available and not possible to buyseparate machine for each item.

*Introduction

Page 5: RAJARAMBAPU INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, - Unnat Bharat Abhiyan · 2018. 12. 7. · •Bhilawadi •POPULATION : 9551 Male-4974 Female-4577 •Ref: Census 2011 •LOCATION: Bk : Palus

• It is seen that there are traditional separate machines available in the market for

chapatti and papad items. These machines are manually operated with the capacity of

100 items/hr. Also large quantity and hygienic items are not prepared by traditional

rolling methods.

• Hence, there is need to develop a semi automatic machine which will be operated for

different size(roll diameter) and items integrated in a single machine. The machine can

cater to the large requirement of items in a short span of time with electronic

interface system.

*Problem Statement

Page 6: RAJARAMBAPU INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, - Unnat Bharat Abhiyan · 2018. 12. 7. · •Bhilawadi •POPULATION : 9551 Male-4974 Female-4577 •Ref: Census 2011 •LOCATION: Bk : Palus

➢ Conventional machines available in the market are made specifically for one

item only

➢ Unable to adjust thickness and size

➢ Unavailability of integrated machine for papad/chapatti/Puri in different sizes

➢ Capacity is less – 100 items/hr.

➢ Health Issues of chapatti/papad maker

➢ Hygenic

➢ Portable machine in commercial segment.

*Issues with conventional methods

Page 7: RAJARAMBAPU INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, - Unnat Bharat Abhiyan · 2018. 12. 7. · •Bhilawadi •POPULATION : 9551 Male-4974 Female-4577 •Ref: Census 2011 •LOCATION: Bk : Palus

➢To calculate and calibrate system for fluidity of different items.

➢To analyze the force required for making different items and sizes like papad/chappati/puri

➢To design a machine and develop a model with integrated system.

➢To apply electronic interface to make required item.

➢To test the machine and address the issues.

➢To prepare business plan and give wide publicity

*Objectives of Technology

• Laboratory testing of fluidity of the items

• Calculation of force required to make different size and item

• Design of Integrated Machine for multiple items

• Modelling and development of machine

• Technology development to make items as per the required fluidity to get high quality product with desirable

size

• Use of Electronic interface to select required item, quantity, size and thickness

• User interface for production of item

• Testing of the machine

• Can produce up to 200 Chapattis /hour

• Size diameter between 4 to 7 inch

*Design of proposed semi automatic machine

➢Adjustable thickness and size functionality

➢Variable speed management for expected output

➢Can maintain seamless universal chapatti size.

➢Robust Construction, High Capacity, Versatile and Portable.

➢Energy efficient (Less running cost).

➢Aesthetically Attractive.

➢Saves time! Save labor !,Easy Operation! Easy Maintenance!
