February 17th & 18th 2017
Come one, come all to HeartShine’s Mini-Miss California pageant! We have a sweet-tooth for
this year’s “Candyland” theme, and I’m sure our contestants will too!
Look forward to an incredible pageant experience at the Chico Ramada Plaza. Our young
contestants can enjoy the pool, games, and make friends at the Think-Pink-Pajama Party!
Mini-Miss California is in the image of the HeartShine System’s most prestigious competitive
title: Miss California HeartShine, but Mini-Miss is just made for young women ages 2-10.
The role models of HeartShine will be at hotel throughout pageant weekend.
Mini-Miss California contestants will perform on the same ballroom as the older girls!
Mini-Miss proves to be a great stepping stone for young girls to gain confidence,
public speaking skills, and other accomplishments in preparation for a state-level pageant.
Come enjoy a fantastic and positive pageant experience with HeartShine!
Ages 2-10
4 age categories
There will be three awarded winners in each age category,
including “Royal” (2nd runner up), “Princess” (1st runner up), and Queen.
The Queen and Princess in each age division will be expended to attend several key events in
their years’ “reign,” including the 2017 HeartWalk in Sacramento (mid-late September) to
support HeartShine’s founding cause, the American Heart Association.

HeartShine contestants and their families must understand that is the goal of the organization, the goal of the pageant weekend, & the goal of HeartShine events to
ensure that Miss California HeartShine 2017 is a positive experience for young men and women, their families, and the community. By agreeing to our Code of
Conduct for all participants and patrons, you are helping us keep the tradition of Sisterhood, Leadership, and Opportunity. We ask for the contestant and their fami-
ly to look over the following rules & sign below:
1. Applicant must be at least 2 years old by February 1st 2017 and no older than 10 years old by the same date. Contestants are not allowed to move down to a
younger age category, though some may be able to move up to an older age division under special circumstances.
2. There is an over-lapping age bracket (contestants aged 8-10) that can either choose to compete at Mini-Miss California HeartShine or Miss California Heart-
Shine state-level pageant. Mini-Miss California HeartShine is a themed pageant for young people age 2-10, and Miss California HeartShine offers state-level
award packages and opportunities for young people age 8-25.
3. The contestant who has raised the most money through 2017 State Program Book sponsorship and recorded and submitted their sponsorship through the
headquarter office via email, mail, or in person— will be our new HeartShine State Spirit Queen, or HeartShine Jr. Spirit Queen. They will receive a satin sash,
crown, state goodies and join the new 2017 HeartShine State Royal Court. They will be announced and celebrated during crowning ceremony at Sunday’s
finale.
4. Applicant agrees to adhere to all payment and sponsorship reporting deadlines. HeartShine coordinators and directors are not responsible for any sponsorship
advertisements or messages meant for the 2017 State Program Book submitted after the February 1st 2017 deadline.
5. Applicant must be of good moral character and never convicted of a crime. Applicant agrees that the top winners at Mini -Miss California HeartShine 2017 will
be expected to maintain a clean (PG rating) social media presence, if any social media pages exist or will exist throughout t he year’s reign, and not use
offensive language or demonstrate provocative or impolite behavior when representing HeartShine in any way. Some of these expectations of clean social
media presence, absence of offensive language and gestures, and overall standards of politeness can extend to the parents, guardians, and chaperones of the
younger contestants.
6. Applicant agrees that all fees paid to HeartShine are non-refundable. This includes payments promised to Optional Entries and other similar fees and contests.
For sponsorship, 80% of your fundraising efforts are put toward your base-line fees (as described under the “Spirit Queen Guidelines” of this packet) until you
have satisfied the base line requirement, after which point 50% of your fundraising efforts are given back directly to you s o you can buy gowns, account for
travel expenses, and more.
7. Applicant understands that failure to comply with any terms, shall, at the option of the pageant, result in her being disqual ified from competition.
Un-sportsmanship behavior will at first be met with a warning, then a second offense will result in disqualification from the S tate Pageant.
8. Applicant agrees that all photos and paperwork are property of HeartShine and may be used for promotional purposes without compensation, including but
not limited to social media, print, and broadcast media. Newly crowned top winners of the 2017 Mini-Miss California HeartShine royal court will be expected
