80’S DECADE-”LAURA ASHLEY PHENOMENON”

• The research I did to develop a visual merchandising plan was researching the internet on the best way to accent my dress for a visual display.

• I also looked over previous notes and chapters in the book to learn what colors, theories, and design elements/techniques worked best for this dress to capture the attention of consumers.

• I also researched the internet and used previous knowledge to decide which type of store would be best to sell my dress.

• I also used personal opinion to decdide what I thought looked best.

RESEARCH

• Analogous Color Family- Related colors, adjacent on color wheel

• Warm Colors-Make object appear larger and form distinct boundaries

• Value-Tints and Shades of colors in the colors I chose

• Saturation-Colors with high saturation• Consistent Temperature- Using single color

attributes/characteristics- create personality in composition

MULTIPLE THEMES

The main colors I am using are warm Colors of Reds and Pinks. I am using these colors because from the research I learned these colors will make the black and white zebra print stand out more. They are warm colors that will attract costumers attention and focus in on the dress. These colors make the dress stand out. I also decided that they look best with the zebra print and with my vision for the dress. Bright colors like red and pink are also very popular colors from the 80’s from which decade the dress was from.
