Autumn
Leaves of red, orange, brown
Dot the country side
Hearing them bustle in the
wind
Makes you wish you were
outside
Raking and raking
Piles up high
Trying to make them touch
the sky
Smells of apples and
pumpkin pie
It’s time for me to say good-
bye!!!!

That One Beautiful
Tree
Colors, colors all through town,
But only one tree makes me
frown.
That one tree is so dull and green,
And all the other trees are
covered in leaves.
Bright colors like orange, green,
and red,
Oh my gosh! Look at that tree
ahead!
It’s very bright colors light up the
sky,
As if everyone going by will go
behind.
That one beautiful tree is packed
with leaves,
Some people rake the ground
below it with please.
I will go home now it has been a
long day,
Are you coming with, to go
home, and stay?
We will have some hot cocoa, is
that okay?

When we go back to
school in September I look
forward to fall. Fall is my
favorite season. It is my favorite
season because of all the leaves
changing colors. I love when I
rake up leaves and I jump into
the crunchy and colorful pile.
Fall also means
football and soccer season! I
love going to home football
games. There is always
something to do. I play football
with my friends, watch a little of
the game, and raid the snack
shack. I like playing soccer. It
gives me something to do. I like
it when the coach puts me in
midfield or defense. Those are
my favorite positions to play in
soccer. Fall is also a good time
to make a fire outside. I love
making s’mores even though it
gets kind of chilly, the fire keeps
us warm.
Another thing about
fall that I like is Thanksgiving
dinner. My favorite part of the
dinner is the stuffing. My
favorite dessert is pumpkin pie!
One time when I was in
Tennessee I ate six pieces and I
was awake the entire night
without feeling sleepy at all.
I saved the best part for
last. It is the only day of the year
that is totally dedicated to
dressing up as anything you want
to and the people give you candy!
It is Halloween!!! I love dressing
up as something scary and going
trick-or-treating with my friends.
It is one of my favorite nights of
the year. This is all that happens
in fall, my favorite season!

As you may know
October is the month of
fall. So this month we are
stating with fall for our
new newsletter called
“Randolph’s Got
Topics.” Mr. Halpainy’s
ELA and reading group
came up with the idea of
having this newsletter.
This newsletter is a way
to get your work
published!
Each month we will
assign a new topic and we
set a deadline date for
submissions. This month
we opened the writing up
to just the sixth grade. I
guess you could say it was
our test run.
For November’s issue,
the topic will be
sports. That means
you can write a story,
write a poem, draw a
picture, or take a picture.
You can pretty much do
anything as long as it goes
with the topic of sports.
We are easing our way
into this, so if you are in
fifth or sixth grade and
would like to submit an
original piece of work,
you have until October
30, 2009 to submit you
writing or picture. You
can give it to your teacher
or bring it to Mr.
Halpainy, room 86, and
tell him it is for the
Randolph’s Got Topics
Newsletter.
All work will be looked at
by our class and the best
will be chosen to be in the
newsletter. Your work
must be school
appropriate, about the
topic and writing pieces
can be no longer than
600 words.
Thank You,
P A G E 2
Fall Red and golden trees,
Gently dance to the breeze.
Falling leaves and nuts
everywhere,
Pumpkins and gourds here
and there.
Baking apple and pumpkin
pies,
Smells rising to fill the skies.
Children playing all around,
Leaves make a crunching
sound.
Pumpkins carved with funny
faces,
Left in all sorts of places.
Animals collecting food,
Puts us all in the mood.
It’s all happening much too
fast,
But we’re having such a
blast.
Aren’t we glad it’s still fall,
Before winter makes its call.

It is such a beautiful time of year.
Everybody will want to cheer.
Play and jump in the leaves.
See all the leaves in the breeze.
Feel the wind blowing around.
It is really quite a nice sound.
Rake and rake the leaves galore.
Rake and rake until no more.
See the Fall change to winter.
Feel the temperature drop much quicker.
Start to see the first snow fall.
Watch and be the first of all.
The sun came out, to fall again.
You do love Fall don’t pretend.
Once again you rake, rake, rake.
After this you can maybe bake.
This is part of football season.
Here you go there’s a reason.
That is why you know you love Fall.
Another reason is baseball.
Go Yankees they’re the best.
They will beat all the rest.
You know you love fall I do to.
Go Fall, Woo Hoo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
orange and pink autumn
colored sunset, the tall trees
that towered over him, and the
steep cliff that over-looked the
raging river. The surface of the
river displayed the red, brown,
orange, and yellow leaves that
were still attached to their trees
on the highest mountain of
Wyoming across from the
stallion. He then looked up
ahead at the path with leaves
that were stirring at the
movement of the chilly wind.
Soon, he came to an
iron gate that had bordered a
gigantic, ancient looking
mansion with four stories.
Without stopping at the gate,
which had leaves stuck
between every design, he kept
going. The golden stallion
made a sharp turn and headed
toward the steep cliff. Every
chance he got he would jump
ahead of time and land in a pile
of leaves that seemed to scatter
like a cat when it saw a big
hound dog. Out over the cliff,
the autumn storm had given up
its long lasting job and the sky
turned light blue with small,
white, fluffy clouds that were
shaped like little cotton balls.
Without thinking of where he
was, the gorgeous stallion with
a mane, tail, and shining coat
that seemed to blend with the
yellow autumn leaves was
gone. He had jumped off the
edge of the cliff and died.
Amazingly enough, the last
thoughts he had in his life was
“Autumn is an amazing
season.”
BOOM! As the
stallion’s hooves hit the muddy
ground the sound seemed to
echo in the loud, head banging
thunder. It was a beautiful,
chilly, and windy autumn
storm, The first one of the
season. BOOM! CRACKLE!
CRACKLE! BOOM! The
golden stallion’s front hooves
lifted off the ground at the
terrifying sound. His cream
colored mane seemed to flow
like the roaring river and his
tail was blowing in the harsh,
whistling autumn wind.
Soon, all was calm.
The gorgeous horse looked up
at the tall trees where the red,
brown, orange, and yellow
leaves seemed to form a soft,
slow tornado. It was the most
amazing sight he had ever
seen. As the leaf tornado drew
closer, he froze as if the chilly
wind had turned him to ice.
Closer and closer the leaves
came, until it finally met the
golden stallion’s soft muzzle
and his warm breath. He darted
for the tall mountain in the
state of Wyoming. As he ran,
he gazed at the beautiful,

Goodbye Fall! P A G E 3
Trees Are full of many leaves,
Orange and Red,
Yellow and Green.
Watch them fall, twirl around,
Quietly as they touch the ground.
Rake them up in a pile.
Let the kids jump in for a while.
Step on them and hear them crunch,
See the kids in a bunch.
The air gets cold,
The kids go inside.
Goodbye Fall,
We’ll miss it all.

All the kids playing together,
Under the leaves in the so chilly
weather.
Time to have fun in the not-so-
bright sun,
Under the sweater and inside we
come.
My mom tells me the fun is not
done,
No you still get hot cocoa my
little one.
Fall is Here!
The leaves are changing, the air is crisp,
Every morning fog spreads out in a great wisp.
The days full of wind and rain,
Bring me feelings of intolerable pain.
As the days get shorter and older,
My soul, somehow, gets darker and colder.
I know it’s only a time of year,
When people say “Fall is here!”
But there’s something about this season,
I don’t quite have a reason.
When I catch those words, “Fall is here”,
It makes me uneasy just to hear.
This time of year dims my soul,
Like all my emotions were just stole.
Maybe there’s something on my mind,
That makes me act of this kind.
Perhaps it’s just the season,
For there is no other reason.
As of now I pay a toll,
Living with a stone cold soul.

Don’t Forget to get your work into your teacher or Mr.
Halpainy by October 30, 2009. Maybe your hard work
will be published in next month’s issue!
Silent footsteps make tiny prints in our earth. Fall is
an amazing time of year, when all those colorful leaves just
tumble down, landing where they may. Sometimes life is like
fall, you just got to roll with the punches, and let the chips fall
where they may. Plump pumpkins with wondering faces stare
back at you from the houses on the dimly lit streets. Nights in
fall are eerie, and nip at you with cold whispers that hit you
with a cooling effect. It is a wet time when tourists we, like to
call “leafers,” come to observe the beautiful change in the
leaves as the loose their chlorophyll and show their “true
colors”. Fall is my favorite time of year, and I hoped that I
shared enough with you to help you understand why.
