ANNUAL

PRESENTATION DAY - OUR STUDENTS

EXCEL IN ACADEMICPURSUITS!

From the Principal

Presentation Day Celebration

Our annual Presentation Day celebra-tion took place last Friday in the hall. It was a superb occasion and it was tre-mendous to be able to celebrate so many students receiving awards for their accomplishments in 2019. Our guest speakers, Old Boys, Ben Street and Lucky Calandra, did a great job inspiring our current students and revealing stories and experi-ences of their time at Randwick Boys’ High School. Both are current members of staff. It was also wonderful to be able to celebrate with so many parents and guardians, members of parliament, the Mayor, Defence Force Personnel and members of our P & C. Well done to all students who achieved great things in 2019. To those who may not have been called on stage this year, your report will indicate what needs to be accomplished in 2020 to improve your chances of gracing the stage at the end of next year!

A special ‘Thank you and well done’ to our TAS Department, ably led by Mr Frougas for coordinating such a successful event. Ms Fulton, Mr Sharma, Ms Lawlor, Mr Dimopoulos, Ms Kounsal, Ms Papadopoulos and Mr Tuvik, also assisted with the organisation beforehand and on the day. Thank you all.

Sport Presentation

The Annual Sports Presentation was held on Thursday last week and was a tremendous celebration of all things sport. Again, it was wonderful to see individuals and Teams cel-ebrating many and varied successes in 2019.

Well done to all students who received awards in 2019. Well done to Mr Noreika for coordinating the sports assembly and sport each week, as sports coordinator. In his absence on the day, Mr Hourani, Mr Bester, Mr Jackson and Mr Doyle did an amazing job. Well done to all involved in ensuring our students have avenues to excel in many sports, especially our Grade Sport teachers/coaches.

HSC results 2019

We are eagerly awaiting the Higher School Certificate results for the class of 2019. They will be released on Tuesday 17th December, along with the ATAR. We look forward to welcoming all Year 12 on Tuesday and celebrate their successes with them. Stop press: - This morning, we are extremely proud to announce that the HSC results for 2019 have been the strongest for many years.

Our class of 2019 achieved 23 Band 6’s (90 or above out of 100) and 59 Band 5’s (80 or above out of 100). Outstanding results, very well deserved! We are VERY proud of you, gentlemen!

Head Teacher Administration

It is my pleasure to announce that Randwick Boys’ High School has a new Head Teacher Administration (Substantive). Our panel met many times this term to determine the successful candidate and I can report that Ms Teresa Cassar, a teacher at RBHS for over 20 years, is now the substantive HT Admin. Tess has relieved in the position for the past 3 years and has previously relieved as HT CAPA/PDHPE and 2 years as relieving Deputy Principal. She has a wealth of knowledge about all things Admin as well as our school. And we welcome her to the HT Administration position. I would like to thank Mr Benson (staff representative), Ms Tamir and Ms Forrester (parent representatives) for assisting with the panel.

Safe and relaxing holiday

Finally, I wish all students, staff, parents, guardians, friends of Randwick Boys’ High School a wonderful Christmas and a safe and relaxing holiday. I look forward to 2020 and celebrating many more successes with you all.

Randwick Boys High School Class Of 99 Reunion

Recently I attended  the ‘Class of 99’ reunion at the Maroubra Bay Hotel.

There were a large number of ex-students in attendance, illustrating the strong connection they have to their old peers and our school, even after twenty years. As their Year 7 Advisor, I inducted them as 13-year old boys, starting their high school journey with both intrepi-dation and excitement. As they progressed through their school-ing at Randwick Boys’ High School, they established an excellent commaradery, mutual support and    lasting friendships, which were evident that afternoon.

Beyond  that, it was also evident that afternoon that most of the ‘Class of 99’ boys had grown and developed into well rounded and successful young men, not only in their work and careers, but also in their personal success.

As their teacher, Year Advisor and mentor it has been such a privi-lege and honour to see these men come to Randwick Boys’ High School as young boys and leave as young adults, and to be part of this wonderful process of guiding young men to success!
