Needs only one teacher to manage a group

An extra pair of hands in your classroomRapid’s pick-up-and-go teaching resources make effective interventions easy to set up and run, giving you the support you need to help each child progress.

Using Rapid, one teacher can easily manage a small group or 1:1 session. Benchmarking assessment allows you to place each child at the correct level within Rapid, helps you identify when they are ready to move on and monitors their progress in a non-pressurised way.

Expert AuthorsThere’s a fantastic team of authors behind Rapid. Rapid Phonics is written by Sound Discovery author Marlynne Grant. Rapid Reading and Rapid Writing were developed by Dee Reid and Diana Bentley, creators of the hugely successful Catch Up programme.

And Rapid Maths was written by Rose Griffiths, author of the widely known Number Connections programme and lecturer at the University of Leicester’s School of Education.

Thousands of schools and local authorities up and down the country use Rapid to help their struggling and disadvantaged children and learners with SEN to catch up in Phonics, Reading, Writing and Maths. An independent study by NFER told us that pupils using Rapid Reading make more than twice the normal rate of progress in reading, and many more schools have shared with us the ‘before and after’ results of their interventions using Rapid, showing just how much of an impact regular sessions with Rapid have had on their pupils.

We know Rapid works – the results speak for themselves!

An approach that can treble the progress of children with reading and spelling difficultiesThe Sound Discovery method behind Rapid Phonics not only helped children progress 15 months ahead of their chronological age for both reading and spelling, they also went on to perform above the national average in Reading and Writing SATs at KS1 and KS2. In a separate trial, one group of low achievers even made 6 - 9 times the expected rate of progress!

Rapid Reading can treble pupils’ normal rate of reading progressPupils using Rapid Reading in Neath & Port Talbot’s thirteen primary schools made an average gain of 19 months in their reading age over a six-month period (using the programme in two half hour sessions a week). That’s 3.2 times the expected progress!

We know Rapid works – the results speak for themselves!

Rapid Writing can double pupils’ normal rate of writing progress Pupils using Rapid Writing at Upton Junior School in Dorset made an average gain of 2.5 National Curriculum sub-levels over a seven-month period (using the programme in two guided writing and two software sessions per week) and one pupil jumped five sub-levels using Rapid Writing! That’s 2.1 times the expected progress!

Rapid Reading is the only intervention programme for struggling readers with a proven record of success. A full scale, independent study by NFER showed that children using it make twice the normal rate of progress in reading and pupils in Rapid Reading trial schools have trebled their normal rate of reading progress using the programme.

Developed by series editors Dee Reid and Diana Bentley, authors of the hugely successful Catch Up programme, Rapid Reading offers reading books for one-to-one or group sessions, speech recognition software for independent practice, and excellent teaching support that’s ideal for a single SENCO or Teaching Assistant to use with a small group.
