convoy operations. Raydon pioneered the concept of configurable training solutions that allow a customer to choose which components address their unique training needs. Since it was first fielded in 2004, the Virtual Convoy Operations Trainer has gone through four configuration changes to deliver maximum training relevance and versatility.

is Raydon’s most successful product line ever, but it had very humble beginnings. The first configu-
ration of VCOT (C1) was fielded by the Army National Guard in 2004 primarily as a collective maneuver training device. It had multiple levels of fidelity inside the trailer and a customer-re- quested appended system for the Humvee that was external to the trailer.
We followed up with some market research, talked to end users, and made some modifications in C2 that simplified the design and made the system easier to use. With C3, the purpose of the trainer was starting to evolve. The collective maneuver functionality was fading in favor of crew and individual gunnery.
The fourth configuration of VCOT (C4), first fielded in 2013, features high-fidelity weapons, revised exercises to meet the new Army gunnery standards, new TTPs, new computers, and new terrains using our proprietary SimCoreGT software framework.
We are now exploring how VCOT can evolve to solve new problems and open up new opportunities, like the ability to run off of industry-leading image generator and simulation host software in addition to Raydon’s highly successful SimCoreGT.
