Engineering Support Group is able to produce:

• Design proposal based on supplied venue details, including environment acoustic simulation, products list, bloc diagram, speaker coverage mapping.

• Design validation based on design submitted by the client providing guidance on the proper selection and placement of RCF products.

• Design of alternative solutions, based on existing specs, providing advice and improved system configurations based upon RCF products.

• Acoustical consultancy for the definition of projects specifications in cooperation with architects’ and contractors’ offices.

• On site system start-up and commissioning. Furthermore RCF provides on request rack already wired completed with connection diagrams and operation manuals.

• Educational and training activities, included in the RCF Audio Academy world-wide program, or tailor made for the client’s requirements.

TTL33-A

TTL33A MKII is an active multi-amplified system based on three class-D over-dimensioned power amplifiers and an effective 750W switching power supply. It integrates a powerful DSP front-end that allows to get and keep the total control of the array module. Then, each TTL33A-MKII, thanks to the exclusive RD-NET control networking facility allows to remotely speed-up and centralise the optimization and the tuning process of the whole system composed of over 200 cabinets. In-fact, the additional circuit able to provide a real time total monitoring and control of the system is in excess of the EN60849 requirements has been designed and added to each array module to get an instant feedback of any possible fault happening within each cabinet, from transducers to amplifiers, from power supply to DSP including all relevant critical audio paths. In this way the maintenance activity is actually quick and easy.

Mechanically/Physically the standard touring grade Baltic birch cabinet has been upgraded to be weather-proof. For instance, the cabinet was fully coated outside and inside with polyurea while front grill was specific for outdoor applications and coated by weatherproofing foam and filters; stainless-steel screws were used and transducers were treated with a lightweight anti-hygroscopic resin; amplifier and DSP boards were protected against humidity and all the connections have been protected with dedicated accessories.

The grill comes with a double painting to strengthen the durability features a foam layer and a water resistent clothbacking for extra protection against the rain.

A special heavy duty polyurea paint has been used to create a very thick full coating of the cabinet making it highly resistant to scratches and bumps. Polyurea lasts longer than paint and epoxy and maintenance services and costs are therefore reduced. Polyurea has a high tolerance for substrate and environmental humidity and temperature.

An IP number is used to specify the environmental protection of enclosures around electronic equipment. These ratings are determined by specific tests. The IP is composed by two numbers, the first referring to the protection against solid objects and the second against liquids. The higher the number, the better the protection. Our connectors have an IP rate of 67, that means: totally protected against dust and against the effect of immersion between 15cm and 1m.

All screws used on the WPTT+ boxes are Inox, a metal that is strong, durable and often used for applications where you need a strong protection against rust and different weather conditions. The surface of the mechanics has a protective film useful against shifting weather conditions and more resistant against unwanted scratching.

The RCFACuSTICA H1312 WP and H1315 WP are three-way full range loudspeakers that are very compact and provide very high output and accurate voice and sound reproduction.The speakers are equipped with the latest generation of RCF precision transducers, all of them with powerful neodymium motors. The cabinet is constructed of multi-ply baltic birch plywood and finished in a special heavy duty polyurea paint.

The cabinet includes 2 recessed handles for transportation and positioning and a total of six double M10 fixing point for flown applications and extensive internal metal bracing.The grill comes with a double painting to strengthen the durability features a foam layer and a water resistent clothbacking for extra protection against the rain.

DXT 9000 VOICE EVACUATION SYSTEM EN 54-16/2008 COMPLIANT

DXT 9000 is the logical evolution to the RCF DXT Active Matrix solution range. To design DXT 9000, RCF has developed a digital multi-platform where PA-EVAC systems join PRO-INSTALL systems in a completely scalable and versatile range of configurations and solutions.

DXT 9000 features a double-ring topology approach, in order to provide a first simple ring for the small and medium size systems requirements and a second larger ring supported by a dedicated system router, the RR 9444, for large and extra-large applications, always plug & play and easy-configurable.

A small system can be designed by using only one system unit MX 9500, which already includes all the necessary controls and four RCF ClassD+ power amplifiers to deliver up to 500W on 100V or 70V constant voltage speaker lines.

A system that requires a higher output power or a larger number of zones can be obtained by adding one or more system amplifiers model uP 9501 (1 x 500W), uP 9502 (2 x 250W) or uP 9504 (4 x 125W) to the MX 9500, connected through the dedicated RCF-Flexicomm data-link port. The same digital bus can be used to drive digital active speaker cards.

The new HPS and DPS power amplifiers are designed for professional use in touring racks and installed sound systems with protective circuits to ensure high reliability and operating safety.Thanks to their extremely compact size they are easy to handle. Their simple set up procedures simplify the installation process as well.

pRoFESSIonAL AMpLIFIERS

DPS 3000 is a 2 channel power amplifier that can handle exceptionally high power ratings in a compact and lightweight 2 rack units space. Thanks to the class HD technology, this amplifier delivers up to 2 x 1700 W RMS @ 2 Ω (3400 W RMS bridged @ 4 Ω), weighing just 14 kg. It comes with a ‘PFC’ (‘Power factor correction’) switched-mode power supply which ensures that a predominantly resistive load is presented to the mains power supply; this also leads to an improved amplifier performance at high output levels. Thanks to its high efficiency heat sinks and variable speed DC fans, the DPS 3000 can withstand the hardest heat conditions ensuring great reliability.

DIgITAL pRoCESSoR

The DX 4008 is a complete 4 input - 8 output digital loudspeaker management system designed for the touring or fixed sound installation markets. The absolute latest in available technology is utilized with 32-bit (40-bit extended) floating point processors and high performance 24-bit Analog Converters. Sampling rate can be set to 96 kHz. The high-bit DSP prevents noise and distortion induced by truncation errors of the commonly used 24-bit fixed-point devices. A complete set of parameters include I/O levels, delay, polarity, 6 bands of parametric EQ per channel, multiple crossover selections and full function limiters. Precise frequency control is achieved with its 1 Hz resolution. Inputs and outputs can be routed in multiple configuration to meet any requirements. The DX 4008 can be controlled

or configured in real time on the front panel or with the intuitive PC GuI accessed via the RS 232 interface. Software upgrade for CPu and DSP via PC keeps the device current with newly developed algorithms and functions once available. Multiple setup storage and system security complete this professional package.

HORNS SPEAKERSBVB goES ACTIVE WITH RCF

The Signal Iduna Park stadium is considered one of the biggest and most comfortable stadiums in Europe with an international capacity of 65000 people (officially seats only) that rise to over 80000 for league matches (seating and standing).The last architectural renovation was in 2003 that brought the stadium to the actual look.Nowadays, considering the increasing standards for the entertainment and for the emergency announcements required during the events, the ownership decided to upgrade the existing sound reinforcement system for the North, South, East and West stands. The existing system was build up during the years, by adding speakers, following the expansion of the building.

The aim of this remake was to reach the “state of the art” in terms of integrated PA-VA, by ensuring not only intelligible voice-alarm announcements but also high quality entertainment music programs, including emotional audio effects able to transform a soccer match in a show experience.

Beside to the acoustical requirements, that were the driving force for this project, there have been a lot of technical aspects as well to be taken into consideration, like the integration with the Fire Alarm System and the complete monitoring of the speakers and amplifiers regarding the EN and DIN regulations.

All the activities described in this document have been carried-out by RCF headquarters and RCF Germany subsidiary engineers, always in synergy with the contractor fulfil engineering and consultant Michael Creydt, during a period of 8 months.

TTL33A-MKII has been adopted as capable to fulfil all the requirements from the acoustical point of view and it was accepted as possible solution, but some customization had to be done in order to allow a safe rigging and hanging, by also considering the unusual array shape. Furthermore to ensure durability in a permanent outdoor installation a special weather-proof version was planned, to withstand all seasons under the roof.

The integration of the 14 arrays with the voice alarm system required to report the general array fault-monitoring to the VA system and to monitor on each array module the presence of a tone signal generated by the VA system itself so to verify the whole critical audio path from the VA management system to the speakers. Then, for increased system reliability the 14 modules of each array have been split in two interleaved connection lines so to get a connection diversity approach..

The detailed view of the array modules status down to each single electronic and electro-acoustic device thanks to an exclusive integrated total monitoring and control system in excess of the EN60849 requirements is possible through the RD-NET synoptic interface, supported by an industrial PC. In case of an RD-NET fault the system keep running according to the last configuration setting, thanks to the fail-safe approach.

Mechanically/Physically the standard touring grade Baltic birch cabinet has been upgraded to be weather-proof. For instance, the cabinet was fully coated outside and inside with polyurea while front grill was specific for outdoor applications and coated by weatherproofing foam and filters; stainless-steel screws were used and transducers were treated with a lightweight anti-hygroscopic resin; amplifier and DSP boards were protected against humidity and all the connections have been protected with dedicated accessories.

All the mechanics have been re-designed in order to hang the 14 modules to a special-made steel backbone agreed with the contractor which fits under the roof main beam. The target was to get an overall safety coefficient of the assembly far above the standards.

HORNS SPEAKERSRCF REInFoRCES THE nEW JuVEnTuS STADIuM

The brand new Juventus Stadium located in Turin is representing a turning point for football venues in Italy.The stadium has a capacity of 41,000 seats and 120 executive boxes and it is the centre of a totally renewed area that also will include a large 34,000 m2 commercial mall and the first Juventus Museum.

The fans will have the possibility to enjoy a great new experience, hearing the players talking to each other, sitting comfortably on the new fancy seats offering a great view of the football pitch.

The Juventus Stadium complex is equipped with the state of art equipment and latest technology. It is a very modern facility and all the audio solutions have been done with RCF products. The RCF ESG (Engineering Support Group) has been involved in the project since the beginning and designed the total audio solution for the Stadium and for the other buildings in the complex.

Beside RCF Installed Sound and Commercial Audio products, special cluster design applications and other special products have been developed to fit perfectly into this major project.

For the Juventus Stadium installation project the RCF team worked on special cluster design to be installed per each section of the tribunes at the stadium. Each cluster contains 2 pcs of the RCF Acustica H1315WP, a three-way full range loudspeaker system that incorporate a 15” LF transducer, a 10” cone MF transducer and a 1.4” exit titanium compression driver. The WP version is weatherproof and especially designed to withstand exposure to weather without damage or loss of function to the speakers.

The tribune areas at the stadium are covered by a total of 88 pcs H1315WP (all installed in pairs). A few more cluster systems to cover the playground area are also installed. The audio installation also contains several subwoofers and power amplifiers.

RCF REInFoRCES nEW ILIE oAnA STADIuM

Ilie Oanaă Stadium is a football stadium in Ploiesti, Romania and is the current home of the football club FC Petrolul Ploiesti. The stadium opened in September 2011 and has a seating capacity of 15,500 people. A state of the art RCF audio system has been installed to cover all areas of the stadium. The audio system design for the Ilie Oanaă Stadium was done in collaboration with the ESG (Engineering Support Group) that specified the individual product system solution, documentation, acoustical simulation, measurement and more.

Everything has been working according to the plans and we have ended up with a superb solution for the Ilie Oana Stadium and we are receiving many positive comments about our work. It has been great to see that the investment into a modern audio system solution is on the same high level as all the other segments that are within the stadium construction. It was important for us to be part of this project from the beginning and it also secured that we could supply the optimal solution. The tribune sections of the stadium are covered by 24 pcs RCF P6215 and 28 pcs RCF P4228 speakers.The P6215 is a weatherproof full range; wide-dispersion, coaxial two-way loudspeaker systems for very high output and longer throw applications. The high-frequency section is a constant directivity CMD horn loaded to a 1.3” RCF Precision Neodymium compression driver with a 2.5” diaphragm assembly for smooth, wide dispersion. The low frequency transducer is a 15” woofer with a 3” voice coil. The cabinet is equipped with 12 x M10 brass inserts, a stainless steel u-Bracket and pair of spacers for 90° mounting. P6215 meets the requirements of IP 55 code (International Protection Rating).

The amplification for the sound system is done with 6 pcs RCF DPS 3000, a 2-channel power amplifier that can handle exceptionally high power ratings in a compact and lightweight 2 units rack space, and 8 pcs RCF HPS 2500, a 2 channel power amplifier that delivers up to 2 x 1400 W RMS @ 2 Ω (2800 W RMS bridged @ 4 Ω).The system is controlled by 2 pcs RCF DX 4008 digital loudspeaker management units. All installed in 2 pcs 26u racks with additional RCF electronics such as RCF M1033 CD-uSB MP3 FM Tuner and more.

HORNS SPEAKERSRCF REInFoRCES DEnMARK’S pARKEn STADIuM

Parken Stadium is Denmark’s national football stadium and the current home of FC Copenhagen. Built between 1990-1992 it currently has a capacity of 38,065 (for football matches) although for other events the stadium can hold as many as 50,000 people with an end-stage set-up and 55,000 with a centre-stage set-up.Keeping pace with the club’s recent success, the Parken Stadium is equipped with a state of the art infrastructure, with a recently upgraded audio system.

”The new RCF speaker system at the Parken Stadium provides a perfect solution, and we have already received positive feedback from many people who say how impressed they are with the ‘new’ sound,” says Lars Bo Baadsgaard of Nordic Sales delivering and installing the project. “This is due to the close collaboration with RCF and their project team. With their knowledge of stadium installations, we knew we could rely on their guidance when it came to designing the optimum speaker solution for the Parken Stadium.”To cover the site, it was specified 42 RCF Acustica H1315 WP, along with 18 RCF P4228 and 12 RCF H6045 fibreglass long-throw horns.Each cluster contains three of the H1315 WP, a three-way full range loudspeaker system that incorporates a 15” LF transducer, a 10” cone MF transducer and a 1.4” exit titanium compression driver.

In addition, the RCF P4228 speakers have been installed to cover selected areas of the tribunes. This weatherproof, full range, wide-dispersion, two-way loudspeaker system offers substantial power and efficiency for a variety of professional indoor or outdoor applications. The HF section is a constant directivity CMD horn loaded with a 1.4” RCF Precision Neodymium compression driver with a 2.5” diaphragm assembly for smooth, wide dispersion. The low-frequency transducer is a double 8” woofer with a 2.5” voice coil.

Finally , the RCF H6045 fibreglass horns are equally designed to withstand all weathers and offer high sound reproduction quality and sound pressure levels. These horns are used as a separate evacuation set-up, which can be automatically activated if special alert messages are required, or as a safety back up for the bigger H1315 WP system

Besides being the home base for FC Copenhagen and the national soccer team, Parken Stadium is also used for hosting big events and concerts etc. In fact the new audio system has already proved its worth at several such events.
