ElectromagneticLocks

An electromagnetic lockis a device used to control the access through a door. Itconsists o an electromagnet mounted in or on the door rame and a matching platethat is axed to the door. When energized, the electromagnet holds the plate with aretention orce that may exceed 1000 lbs, thus eectively locking the door. Available ina range o holding orces to suit dierent applications.

Rutherord Controls Intl Corp (RCI) warrants to the original purchaser that all Electromagnetic Locks* products shall be ree

rom deects in material or workmanship at time o shipment. Our obligation under this warranty is limited to the repairing or

replacing o any o our products, providing said products are used within the speciied ratings and applied in accordance with

good engineering practice, and providing said products are proved by our examination to be deective and returned to us trans

portation prepaid. In no event shall RCI be liable whether in contract, or negligence, or indirect, special, incidental, consequentia

or collateral damages o any kind sustained rom any cause. This warranty does not extend to any o our products which have

been subject to misuse, neglect, accident, improper application or installation, nor shall it extend to material which has been

altered or repaired outside the actory. This warranty is in lieu o all other warranties expressed or implied, including but not

limited to any implied warranty o merchantability or itness or a particular purpose. Corrections o deects in the manner and

under the conditions stated above shall constitute ulillment o all our obligations and liabilities to any person with respect to

the covered products, whether based on contract, negligence, strict liability or otherwise. No person or entity is authorized to

Whats the Difference?

Door Status Sensor (DSS)

A DSS is a contact type sensor switch used to monitor the position o a door independant o local power. It is a means

o remotely indicating whether the door is open or closed, but not necessarily locked.Ideal or anti-ollow through on access

control systems; Remote Door Hold Open applications, and CCTV activation.

Security Condition Sensor (SCS)

An SCS is a solid state bond sensor that operates an LED and an SPDT relay to indicate either low voltage or tamper

ing o the lock. The SCS indicates lock status (locked or unlocked). The sensor will initiate an LED to inorm

locally or report remotely o reduced holding orce due to the presence o materials between the magnet and

armature plate, an unlocked status due to current loss by severed wires or other means. Ideal or Remote Door Hold Open

applications, CCTV activation, traic control applications, etc. Security condition data can be sent to a remote device, trigger an

audible alarm (on the device or on the remote device), trigger a visual alarm (on the device or on the remote device), or a

combination o these. The SCS sensor is highly sensitive and is recommended or high security applications.

The EW8310 is more than an Electromagnetic Lock, it can also sense when an intruder is attempting to gain access into a

building through a locked door. The built-in sensor detects door movement and initiates a local and/or remote alarm prior to

the integrity of the door being compromised; well before the break-in has occurred.

An alarm in the immediate location will ward off would be thieves before they have a chance to gain access. The light panelprovides highly visible information related to the status changes of the door. For example, it works as a status indicator when

the door is secure or noties if an attempted break-in has occurred.
