Construction in our school over recent months has added to the complexity of organisation but it will all be worth it in the long run, with each little improvement making our school a better place. Although we are still not able to meet in large groups or move freely throughout the school at all times, I must give credit to all of our school community and particularly our students, who have adapted to new routines and structures extremely well. A quick reminder that the following still apply at this stage: Designated pick up and drop off zones will remain in place until further notice. Canteen and Uniform is open for online orders. No school banking, library borrowing or paper-based homework until further notice. Restrictions on school assemblies, excursions or sports events will remain in place until further notice. K-2 Playground Construction You may have noticed the construction of our long-awaited K-2 playground. This is going to be a fantastic new space for our children to play in for years to come. Unfortunately, it will create a significant disturbance in the K-2 area over the next few weeks. As there is tree removal taking place and some heavy machinery from time to time, we have taken measures to section off the area for everyone’s safety. Please keep well clear of the area before and after school. As alerted through the Skoolbag App, the Wentworth Ave pedestrian gate will be closed in the short term. Cold Weather & Lost Property After a few really cold days at WWS, I’ve noticed a huge number of jumpers lying around in the playground, many of which aren’t marked with student names. As it is sure to get colder from here on in, please take the time to mark your child’s clothing on an internal label, so that it can easily be returned if misplaced. If you have lost an item recently, our primary lost property is stored outside 3/4M and the infants, outside KS. Please ask your children to start their search in these places. A reminder that at present our uniform shop is open Thursday morning from 8.45-9.15am should you need to purchase replacement items. Kindergarten Information Sessions Kindergarten Information Sessions for 2021 enrolments normally take place in early June, however, due to the current restrictions on gatherings, we have decided to reschedule for Wednesday 29 th July, 2020. It is anticipated that our normal kindergarten schedule of pre-school visits, open days and the Ready for School (R4S) program will resume as planned during Term 3 and 4. We already have lots of interest for Kindy in 2021, so if you or anyone you know has children commencing school next year, please don’t hesitate to contact the office for more details.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Week 6, Term 2

The New Normal

Thanks to everyone for so quickly coming to terms with the ongoing restrictions we have in place at present due to COVID19. Construction in our school over recent months has added to the complexity of organisation but it will all be worth it in the long run, with each little improvement making our school a better place. Have a great week everyone,

Matt Barr

Principal

Emily in 1/2B received a Principal’s Award from Mr Barr

for her outstanding work!

Footy Friday Colours is this Friday, June 5!

Students can wear their favourite team's colours. We would usually ask for a gold coin donation and the money raised goes to Kids with Cancer.

However, due to COVID-19 and contact with money to-and-from home, money cannot be brought in with the students. Alternatively, the link below is provided and if you wish to donate through the Kids with Cancer Foundation website, please do.

So, wear your footy colours and celebrate!

Congratulations to Cody (not pictured), William & Maliyah in KJ who received a

Principal’s Award from Mr Barr 😊😊

Congratulations to all our Stage 2 students who completed 60 nights of #homereadinghero in Term 1. A special congratulations to Brooke who was the lucky winner of the prize draw. Spend your gift voucher wisely! Due to recent circumstances during Term 2 students will only need to

complete 20 nights of home reading to be in the draw, so happy reading everyone!
