Dear IIUM Community, May this announcement reach you while you are in the best of circumstances by the Grace of Allah S.W.T. First and foremost, let me take this opportunity to thank all of the IIUM community for your cooperation in complying with the movement control order (MCO) imposed by the Government. It is important for all of us to comply with the MCO, not only in IIUM, but throughout the country in order to fight and break the chain of COVID-19. At IIUM, the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff are our top priority. As we have continued to monitor the spread of the COVID-19, it becomes clear that that we must be proactive. So far, the situation is well under control. The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Y.A.B Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin made a second announcement on 25th March 2020 to extend the MCO for another two weeks until 14th April 2020. During this time, please be reminded that all staff and students must continue to obey the IIUM Official Guidelines No. 2/2020 (19th March 2020). In view of the extension, the management of the University has decided on the following:
1. All academic activities for Semester 2, 2019/2020 will resume as normal on 1st June 2020.
2. All staff of IIUM are required to resume duty as normal on 15th April 2020. Should the MCO be extended again, new date for staff to resume duty will be announced by the university accordingly.
The details are as attached in the action plan. We will monitor Guidelines issued by the relevant Authorities and will provide expanded guidance, if necessary. We remain committed to supporting our students to complete their semester in the best way possible. We will continue to update you from time to time.
