New trends and products related to alcohol and marijuanacontinue to emerge throughout the US. Some of these trends didnot start in the US, but were brought here by new entrepreneurswith new ideas from other countries. As these new trends entersociety and communities, we find ourselves again in unprovensituations. How will it affect our community, our schools, ourteens, and our cities?

Cocktail Cloud Bar Ever had your head in the clouds? There's a new multisensorybar in London where you can experience it. AlcoholicArchitecture is an establishment that "explodes drinks to thescale of architecture," as described by its creators, Bompas &Parr. Guests walk through alcohol clouds that can be inhaled.This unique weather bar encloses alcoholic vapor into glassboxes so that guests can enter to ingest boozy air. Each vaporcloud is composed of one part spirit and three parts mixer. Tocreate the clouds, a humidifier is used to supersaturate the air.Guests can enjoy the fogfilled room for a maximum of one hourand are provided with a hooded cape to keep the alcoholic fumesfrom clinging to their clothes. The cost to enjoy this intoxicatingcloud is $20.00. The way the alcohol is ingested allows it to bypass the liver,which means that guests can consume 40 percent less booze forthe same levels of intoxication. Although the alcohol clouds areconsumed mostly through the nose and mouth, it's not just yourlungs doing the drinking on this cloud. The alcohol enters yourbloodstream through mucous membranesmeaning your eyeballsget in on the action too. That means that guests can take in 40percent less alcohol in this environment but experience the sameeffects since the alcohol never enters the liver. Bompas & Parrworked with respiratory scientists and chemists to ensure thatthe boozy mist is safe and safety precautions were taken. Currently there are no cloud bars in California, but there hasbeen talk of investors looking to have one of these bars in LosAngeles, New York, and Chicago. Smoked Hemp and Hops Drink Bar What do you get when a cannabisloving mixologist gets in onthe smoky cocktail craze? Up in Smokea $25 hemp and hopsinspired drink at Gracias Madrea plantbased Mexican spot inWest Hollywood. The drink has tequila blanco, house mosaichopped cucumber soda, lemon and celery bitters make thedrink's liquid component, which is served from a water pipedecanter with a hop cone stuffed in its downstem. After the hopcone is set ablaze and the smoke's aroma fills the air, the liquidis served over ice. Got the munchies? Snack on Up in Smoke'ssuggestive garnish of cucumber cut into the letters "THC." The drink is made by preparing a special mix. Next it is decantedinto a clear glass water pipe (standard glass bong) beforelighting one end of a handheld food smoker with a torch lighter.After burning the hemp seeds and letting the smoke passthrough the drink while it's in the bong, the resulting liquid getspoured over ice. Smoked cocktails are still rare in L.A. but the bartenders doingthem use the technique to impart a depth of flavor and aromathat you can't get using any other method. Hemp seeds are byfar the weirdest thing being smoked into a cocktail yet.
Alcohol Movie Theaters
"Brews with a View" is what they are calling the concept ofselling alcohol at theaters. But not all theaters are the same. Itseems each one is coming up with its own style of serving andthere are many different concepts on how the theater is laid out. There are theaters that have an actual bar located inside theentry where you can sit and drink. Others you take your seat push a button and a hostess takes your order and deliversyour alcoholic beverage. These theaters are also selling highquality food, not just your average hotdog and popcorn. Theatersnot only sell beer, wine and mixed drinks, but have even gone tothe extreme of selling craft beers. Though, not all theater seatingis the same. Some have gone as far to have car seats, plushseating individual chairs, or stadium seating with food trays.These theaters continue to pop up throughout nation. Some of the theaters only allow 21 and older to enter, where thelarge brand theater companies, have divided their bar andalcohol theaters from the underage movie viewer. Marijuana Movie Theaters
Flow Kana, a marijuana social enterprise and delivery service, isexperimenting by hosting film night events where people canenjoy cannabis and a movie screening. These screenings tapinto the activity of getting high before going to a movie theaterand is an example of knowing your customer base. The SanFranciscobased special film night includes complimentary andare unlimited popcorn (perfect for if you get the munchies), edibleand smokeable pot products and fresh juice provided by HappyMoose Juice. Handcrafted 'prerolls' are also available in bundlessuch as three for $30.
In Denver, Colorado Zubulon Pike 16 Movie Complex justannounced it will open the first "Pot Palladium" marijuana friendlymovie theater. The management announced they will be turningone of their 16 movie theaters into a marijuana friendly smokingtheater. The movie theater owners decided on the change afterreceiving over 6,000 requests for a movie theater where smokingpot would be allowed. All of the movies shown in Theater #13 willbe Rrated and adult themed. The concession stand will bestocked with the regular hot dogs, popcorn, candies and nachos.However, due to the opening of the new cannabis theater, theywill also be selling pizza and Hostess Twinkies. The theater isdue to open on November 15, 2015.
Retail currently and in the future serving alcohol
In a tough economy along with a large amount of competitors,the move to serve alcohol in the fast food world is a way tocompete with casual dining and boost slow evening business.
Locations such as Burger King, Wienerschnitzel, Taco Bell,Sonic and Starbucks are among the fast food giants trying thisconcept. These locations will sell a variety of alcohol from beerand wine to icy alcohol slushies. Though, none of theselocations have pushed to sell their alcohol through the drive thru.There are already a large number of locations that can be foundthroughout the nation adopting this concept.
But it doesn't stop there; your local favorite shopping location isalso getting into the alcohol serving trend. A Target in Chicago iscurrently being built to be the first retail store of the chain to offera fully stocked bar to consumers while they shop. Shoppersrunning errands picking up anything from toiletries to clothes andgroceries can now enjoy a cocktail while they shop as well as beable to purchase liquor instores. The goal is to entice shoppersto stick around longer while they spend, and even find theexperience more enjoyable with a beverage in hand. This is anexample of retailers finding a way to make consumers feel moreat ease while they shop. Some locations such as Walmart andtheir warehouse Sam's Club have begun embracing the conceptof alcohol tasting at some of their locations. Grocery stores such as Whole Foods Market have also

Marijuana Vapor Bar
There are a tiny number of marijuana vapor bars, cafes andprivate clubs catering to the stoner class in Washington andColorado since voters made them the first states to legalizemarijuana for adults over 21. Both states ban the public use ofmarijuana which typically would include bars and restaurants andmost bars are steering clear of allowing pot use at least untilofficials come up with rules for the new weed industry. But a fewhave been testing the boundaries of what's allowed in hopes ofdrumming up business and making a political statement.
Although there is no smoking of marijuana allowed in businessestablishments, there is a loophole where vaporizing is notmentioned. So technically they are not breaking the law. Theestablishments do not allow the smoking of joints, blunts, orpipes because of the smoke. What they do allow is vaporizing ofthe oil. Patrons come and are allowed to puff on vapor pensloaded with cannabisinfused oil. At some locations a bar workerhelps prepare bongs and aids in the vaporizing of the oil. Ofcourse before you begin this new fad, there is a memberapplication and fee that must be filled out and paid. Fees runfrom $1 for a oneday membership, $5 for a week and $20 for ayear. These establishments also do not sell the marijuana oil soyou have to bring your own medicine.

Champagne Infused Popsicles
POPS are Premium Ice Popsicles made in Britain using naturalingredients. Founded in June 2014 by old school friends Jamesand Harry, who after a summer holiday decided that they wantedto create the world's first Champagne Ice Popsicle. Currentlythey have six different flavors, CLASSIC being their mainproduct. Some POPS not only include champagne but alsoinclude Schnapps alcohol. Each CLASSIC popsicle contains37% real champagne or 29% Schnapps.
These POPS have been seen at events and celebrationsthroughout the world. They are enjoyed by movie and pop stars.Most of these POPS can be found at high social and dignitaryevents.
Alcoholic Tea Drink
Given that kombucha had always been marketed as a nonalcoholic drink, buyers and sellers everywhere were a bit takenaback when they discovered that they could've gotten a betterbuzz off their tea than their beer.
Some varieties of the fermented black tea actually contain morethan 0.5 percent alcohol, the legal line in the sand imposed bythe Food and Drug Administration separating the booze from the
nonbooze.
Whole Foods and other previous carriers of kombucha pulled theproduct from their shelves following revelations that certainstrains of the product exceed the 0.5 percent limit nearly sixtimes over, with some kinds of kombucha containing up to threepercent alcohol. For reference, a bottle of Beck's Lite containsjust 3.8 percent alcohol, and Miller Genuine Draft 64 containseven less at 2.8 percent alcohol.
Kombucha is produced by way of fermentation. A fungus of yeastand bacteria is given several weeks to ferment in sugary tea,which yields a slightly alcoholic result that has a distinctlyvinegary taste. Juice is then added to the tea to offset itsnaturally lessappealing flavor.
Marijuana Infused Coffee Pods Marijuanainfused coffee pods are hitting store shelves whereallowed. Cannabisinfused coffee is now available in convenientsingleuse pods for those who want a little more buzz to theira.m. jolt.
Seattlebased Uncle Ike's Pot Shop now sells pods of Catapultcoffee at a steep $10 per pod. Each pod works in standard,singleserve coffee makers and contains 10 mg of THC,marijuana's psychoactive ingredient. The shop previously soldloose grounds infused with marijuana but the pods are "quicklybecoming big sellers," said the shop.
Fairwinds Manufacturing, a Vancouver Canada company makesthe pods for Uncle Ike's. They reported the pods now account for60 percent of company sales. Fairwinds isn't the only companymaking cannabisinfused coffee. House of Jane in California hasfour types of cannabis Kcups: medium roast, dark roast, decafand mocha café. It also sells marijuana infused coffees, teasand creamers. It is also working on cannabisinfused"Frappuccino"the drink will not be sold at Starbucks but theteam hopes to capitalize on the popularity of the wellknowncreamy beverage during the hot summer months.
Ed Rosenthal, whose brand is well known for marijuana growingguides and a line of prerolled joints, has a line of coffees calledEd Rosenthal's Select Coffee & Tea. Another is House of Jane.

Cannabis Infused Beer Colorado brewery Dude's Brews created this cannabisinfusedbeer titled 'CannaBeer' which is made with authentic cannabisplant extract. The beer made its debut at the annual GreatAmerican Beer Festival in September, 2015. The brewery will beunveiling a line on cannabisinfused beers which include a strongdose of cannabidiol which is also known as CBD. This ingredientis actually a substance that is extracted from the cannabis plant.The beers are noted to have an aroma of cannabis as well ascontain actual cannabis inside each brew. The first beers to bereleased "will be a 10 percent Sativa IPA and a 5 percent Indicadouble IPA." These beers are all infused with legal hemp oil, which allows thebeers to become a consumable product.
Cannabis Infused Wine The pairing of wine and weed seems like a hip new fad that hasgrown out of the explosion in legalization around the US. Most ofthe development of cannabisinfused wine happened in the 80s,in California, where "pot wine" was something vintners wouldknock up and share with friends or at private gatherings. It wasgenerally made with rosé wines, in unlabeled bottles, and quitepricey if you wanted to buy it the war on drugs made it a riskybusiness.
As the stigma around cannabis fades, and the changes inmarijuana laws make it more accessible, wine drinkers in stateslike California are increasingly able to enjoy the combination oftwo of their most popular pleasures good wine and great herb. Pot wine is made by placing a pound of marijuana in a cask ofwine, leading to about 1.5 grams of marijuana per bottle. Thefermentation process converts sugar from grapes into alcohol,and the alcohol extracts the THC from marijuana over a ninemonth process. Side effects of consuming the substances together may includenausea, vomiting, dizziness, agitation, and paranoid ideation.Doctors say marijuana, a hallucinogen, and alcohol a stimulantinitially that is a potent depressant may be dangerous togetherbecause the additive marijuana will likely allow people toconsume more alcohol than they normally would, potentiallyleading to breathing difficulties and low blood pressure.Marijuanainfused wine "may be dangerous together because theadditive marijuana will likely allow people to consume morealcohol than they normally would."
Cannabis Infused Hard Liquor As a growing number of states take steps to legalize anddecriminalize marijuana, bartenders and budtenders are comingtogether, much the way chefs have begun experimenting withhighend, gourmet edibles spiked with THC(tetrahydrocannabinol, the potent part of the herb). Mixologistsare trying out two kinds of potables: cocktails spiked with THC(where legal), and cocktails designed to mimic the actual green,skunky flavors of marijuana. Compared to edibles, for which oil or butterbased extractionsare favored, tinctures (herbal essences that are extracted byalcohol) are the preferred vehicle for drinks. Bartenders useEverclear or a different highproof alcohol to draw THC from theplant, a process similar to that used to make bitters. The mostpopular seems to involve grinding and then baking the bud at alow temperature (a process called "decarboxylation") beforesteeping it in alcohol for a stretch that can range from hours todays. The liquid is then strained and stored, often in a containerwith an eyedropper or dasher attachment.

Foxtender Alcohol Vending Machine
One of the annoying things about going out to a bar is having towait in line for a drink or getting the bartenders attention. 'YoungFox' created the Foxtender, which is a unique alcohol vendingmachine that will eliminate lines at the bar. This professionalcocktail dispenser works with a compatible app that allowsconsumers to pay directly via smartphones.
The machine uses electricity to create beverages, but it does notneed to be plugged into an outlet. This allows the alcoholvending machine to be set up in any location at any time. A fewkey features of the cordless machine include its ability to provide400 drinks before being refilled. It can also receive an order andcreate a drink in roughly 16 seconds.
In addition to paying with the smartphone app, there is also aGPS locator built in that will guide users to the closest Foxtender.The ultimate goal for this vending machinelike product is tocreate a simpler and easier way for consumers to purchasealcohol at bars.The Foxtender is designed to be used in bars,pubs, clubs, casinos, hotels, festivals, fitness clubs, weddings,parties and corporate events.
