REACHING EVER higher REACHING EVER higher PO Box 3381 Easton, MD 21601 2017–2018 SEASON Dear Friends of the MSO, What a joy it is to introduce you to our 20 th Anniversary Season, Reaching Ever Higher! I am so proud of the program we have put together for the coming year. We are thrilled to be performing such symphonies as Bizet’s energetic Symphony No. 1, Brahms’ moving Symphony No. 4, and our first ever Mahler, the heavenly Symphony No. 4. We are so excited to welcome such tremendous artists as Virgil Boutellis-Taft in Chausson’s Poème and Saint Saëns’ Danse Macabre, the Baltimore Symphony’s Phil Munds in Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 3, and Leon Fleisher, one of the world’s greatest musical legends, in Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 12. In November, the MSO will celebrate the Fall season with Autumn Legends, featuring Alwyn, Haydn and the Vivaldi’s famed Four Seasons with our newly-appointed Concertmaster Amos Fayette. For our Holiday Joy Concert, we welcome exceptional Soprano Leah Hawkins and gifted Tenor Chaz’man Williams-Ali, both hailed from the Washington National Opera Young Artist program, as well as famed Canadian Brass trumpeter Joe Burgstaller. In the spirit of the season, we will then celebrate the New Year with MSO favorite Soprano Sharin Apostolou and her husband, the wonderful Tenor Ryan McPherson. A first this year, the MSO will present a February concert, A Roaring Movies Valentine, featuring music of the Roaring Twenties and silent pictures; a most entertaining evening! In March, we will premiere a commission from composer Camila Agosto, a highly inspiring and creative young artist whose music blends acoustic and multimedia elements. Finally, I am pleased to announce that we will present two concerts at two new venues, the Todd Performing Arts Center at Chesapeake College, and the Maison Francaise in Washington, DC. These venues are in addition to the many other venues that we are so fortunate to perform in: the historic Avalon Theater, the richly sounding Community Church in Ocean Pines and Easton’s Church of God, the warm Mariner’s Bethel Church in Ocean View, the delightful Christ Church in Easton, and of course the Ocean City Performing Arts Center within the Roland E. Powell Convention Center. The Mid-Atlantic Symphony is Reaching Ever Higher for you, our MSO family, inspiring our lives through music, together! 2017–2018 SEASON

Dear Friends of the MSO,

What a joy it is to introduce you to our 20th Anniversary Season, Reaching Ever Higher! I am so proud of the program we have put together for the coming year.

We are thrilled to be performing such symphonies as Bizet’s energetic Symphony No. 1, Brahms’ moving Symphony No. 4, and our first ever Mahler, the heavenly Symphony No. 4. We are so excited to welcome such tremendous artists as Virgil Boutellis-Taft in Chausson’s Poème and Saint Saëns’ Danse Macabre, the Baltimore Symphony’s Phil

Munds in Mozart’s Horn Concerto No.
