One-on-One TutoringOne-on-one tutoring can help adults improve their reading, writing, spelling, grammar, and basic math up to about a Grade 9 level.

Tutoring takes place on a day and time convenient for both the volunteer tutor and the student, and is ongoing until the student’s goals are met.

Priority is given to Canadians and Permanent Residents.

A registration fee may apply for one-on-one tutoring.

Unfortunately, if you are in Canada on a Visa, we cannot offer you one-on-one tutoring, but you can sign up for classes if your Visa permits.

After a one-hour appointment to get registered and assessed, you could be paired with a tutor for one hour a week.

At this time, appointments/assessments and tutoring will likely be done online using Zoom.

ClassesClasses focus on improving basic skills – reading, writing, math, computer, numeracy, listening and speaking. Check this brochure for the classes that are offered.

The best place for learning listening, speaking, and pronunciation skills are in classes where one can speak and listen to a variety of people. One-on-one tutoring is not provided for these skills.

A $30 course fee may apply.

Learner Support Services are offered to adult learners who wish to discuss their learning needs and goals with Read On staff. We will help you map out possible ways to achieve your goals either with our program, Lethbridge College, or other city organizations.

Are you interested in our program, but the cost is a problem? Let us know. We may be able to reduce or waive the fee.

The doors to Read On may not be open, but staff are here and ready to answer your questions. Whether you want to know about our classes or have questions about language tests, classes, or one-on-one tutoring, let us know. Email [email protected] or phone 403-320-4701. We will get back to you as soon as we can.

Refunds: Given if the class does not run, or we cannot find you a tutor. If you decide to withdraw from a class within the first two weeks, the fee for that class can be used towards another class.

Cancellation of a Class: We will phone or email you as soon as possible. If only 3 students register for a class, it may be cancelled.

Attendance: Call your tutor if you cannot come to your lesson or class. If you do not come to your lessons, your spot will be given to another student. Certificates of participation may be offered for good attendance.

Visa residents: You must show Read On staff your Visa (issued by the Canadian government) so we can ensure your eligibility to our program.

* Information in this brochure may change *

• Adults improve their reading, writing, math, computer, speaking, and listening skills. We do this through one-on-one tutoring and small classes.

• Lethbridge residents (18 years of age or older) up to a Grade 9 or CLB 7. Priority is given to Canadians and Permanent Residents. Visa residents are welcome to join two classes. If you are an agency or an agency client, please speak to Read On staff for more information.
