Read Write inc. (RWI) Phonics

To help your child continue with their Read Write Inc. Phonics programme, can they watch the following online lessons each day. You can find the lessons by

or you can find it by searching for Ruth Miskin Training on YouTube. These films will be available for 24 hours from the time they are released and are released

daily from around 9am. If you subscribe, they will inform when the newest one is released. The title of the film will identify the date and whether it teaches a set

1, 2, or 3 sound. To find out which set of sounds your child needs to practice please see the timetable below.

They need to watch the videos dependent on their phonics group teacher so just ask them who they go

to for phonics!

set 2 sounds this term already. But remember you don’t need to rush ahead,

phonics is about being confident with all of the set 2 sounds before you move

Online Home reading books You can access a variety of free phonics books that are appropriate for your child’s phonics ability on www.oxfordowl.co.uk. In order for

you to select an appropriate book please follow these instructions.

1. Login or set up a free account at www.oxfordowl.co.uk, then click on ‘browse ebooks’

2. Click browse the ‘ebook library’

Your child’s phonics group may not be the same as their class teacher- ask them if they can remember who they go to for phonics. If you are unsure please email school and we will get back to you. Mrs Ratheram’s Phonics group: Lilac band Mrs Hyde’s Phonics Group: Pink band Miss White’s Phonics Group: Pink band Mrs Wilkes’ Phonics Group : Red band Mrs Beighton’s Phonics Group: Red band then if you need a challenge try Yellow! Miss Welch’s Phonics Group: Yellow band Mrs Perks’ Phonics Group: Yellow then if you need a challenge try Blue! Mrs Wilson’s Phonics Group: Blue then if you need a challenge try Green! Mrs Carter’s Phonics Group: Green level then if you need a challenge try Orange! Mr Priestley’s Phonics Group: Start with Orange,Then if you need a challenge move to Turquoise or Purple.

Please note that these bands are only an estimate. If your child finds the books too easy, move them up a band or if they are too challenging simply move them down to the previous colour band.

3. Click levels then click book bands and select the appropriate level for your child (see the table below for the colour band).
