I felt a bit better after dinner so I stayed up. I covered myself with a blanket on the sofa and watched TV with my parents. I fell asleep in front of the TV. 4. 1. I have just had a terrible weekend! On Saturday I was so tired that I slept all

ached all over. My nose ran and I coughed a lot. My mother took my temperature

but I did not have a fever.

2. My mother made me some soup for lunch and I ate it in bed. I drank some juice.

I tried to read a book but I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I lay in bed all afternoon.

I drank more juice. I felt miserable all afternoon. I didn’t want to do anything.

3. I got out of bed at dinner time. My parents ordered pizza for dinner and I was able

to eat some of it. I drank more juice! I felt a bit better after dinner so I stayed up.

I covered myself with a blanket on the sofa and watched TV with my parents.

I fell asleep in front of the TV.

4. The next morning I felt better but now my mother had a cold! She looked

miserable. It was her turn to be sick.

Reading 6:

A Great American LeaderMartin Luther King Jr. was a leader. He lived from 1929 to 1968. King grew up in the

southern part of the United States. At that time, laws treated African American

people differently from white people. African Americans were forced to sit in the back

of buses. They also had to use separate bathrooms.

When King was older, he worked to change those unfair laws. Finally, he succeeded

in changing those bad laws. Now, those laws provide the same rights to all

Americans.

Martin L. King memorial

at the National Mall

In Memory of KingKing is celebrated with a memorial. A memorial is a statue or a place for an

important or famous person. The King memorial is built on the National Mall. That is

a park in Washington, D.C. Memorials for some U.S. presidents are also on the Mall.

The King memorial opened in August of 2011. It has a 30-foot statue of King.

Sentences from some of his speeches are written into a stone wall. The cost of

building the memorial was $100 million.
